Who's binging this on Netflix tomorrow?

It looks like it's received mixed reviews but it's from the people who did peak Simpsons and Futurama so I will make my own mind up thank you cynical internet reviewers.

I'll give it a go over the weekend. I want to like it but I hate that The Simpsons now has more gooseberry fool seasons than good seasons and I blame Matt Groening for that.

Interesting. I don't think I blame Matt for that. I don't know the behind the scenes but Oakley/Weinstein only had a short run as showrunners on the Simpsons on seasons 7 and 8. I have to assume Matt doesn't get to say who runs the day to day of the Simpsons now but does on Futurama and this?

Yeah I'm going to give it a go but I'm not expecting anything like peak Simpsons or Futurama. Some of the key folks may be involved but we're getting on for 20 years since those days and I can't see them turning it on like that again. Very happy if they prove me wrong of course!

I don't think he's been involved in the day to day running of The Simpsons for well over 20 years now, to be honest. I read somewhere that he's worth about $500m off the back of the show as well - I too would run my creations into the ground for that much money.

I don't like to blame without evidence but well Al Jean has been showrunner/head boss of the Simpsons since season 13 to present and when do people seem to agree the Simpsons started sucking?

I'm going to give it a look soon as i think it looks quite interesting.

Also on the simpsons, i actually think it's fair better now than it was about ten years ago which was when it really seemed to suck for a number of years. I've enjoyed the last couple of seasons.

The Simpsons has been a shadow of its former self since around season 9 in my view. We're getting on for the number of bad seasons being more than double the number of good ones. :dread:

There are 29 seasons, so more like two thirds bad going by your opinion.

Doesn't bother me them making new episodes doesn't suddenly make the old ones bad.

ANYWAY this isn't the Simpsons.

My neutrality toward this show is whelming.

Not interested after the whole Apu thing. Hank Azaria handled it beautifully and has gone up in my estimation, whilst Matt Groening was the personification of old man yells at clouds and has somewhat tainted my love for "his" shows.

Gets panned here. And looking through reviews, this seems to be the accepted opinion.

Skip it.

Yeah, just watched the first two episodes. Not a single laugh, the music is terrible and I have no idea what some of the VOs are doing with their accents.

It's really quite bad.

EDIT: I mean, I suppose it has Matt Berry. But even he sounds like he's phoning it in.

If this lets you down, I recommend 'Over The Garden Wall' and 'Final Space'. Both are animated series on Nexflix. Both are great. Very different.

I thought it was alright, not a home run but fine. Room for improvement. Reminds me I need to watch BoJack though.

Two episodes in - not a fan, sadly. It's more like post-season 20 Simpsons. Clobbers you over the head with the jokes.
