Personally don't think Cars is that bad, but it's definitely the weak point in The Golden Era. And like Moggy says, the following 3 films make up for it.

"The Predominantly Golden Era"

Cars is way better than people give it credit for to be fair, it's got a lot of charm going for it but if you listen to some people you'd think Lightning McQueen shat in their bed or something

Nah, Cars was a gooseberry fool movie, but they followed it with Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up and Toy Story 3. Those 4 are as good as anything else.

Then we got Cars 2..... :dread:

Yeah, but you can't just ignore one movie and claim that it was a "golden era"!

The run between Cars 1 and 2 was very good, although WALL-E and Up are two of that "second era" that never quite sing for me, both have absolutely incredible opening acts but falter as they go on.

well most people seem to forget/exclude rescuers down under from the disney renaissance

I watched Turning Red last night and thought it was great  After Inside Out and Coco I didn't bother with Soul since it seemed like they were moving too far from "good fun family films" towards "emotionally draining films to make everyone cry", but now I'm tempted to give Luca a watch.

Felt more like classic Pixar than I was expecting given how... weird Bao was. I love all the humour in the animation, too. When she tries to squeeze through the window her face goes exactly like my cat's when you stroke him a bit heavy handedly

The credits even mention the Stereoscopic 3D team and the fact that it's "Optimised for IMAX Theatres", so why on earth did they just shove it onto Disney+? :?

There's a tiny post-credits scene, too! Weird.

Luca is great! Definitely worth a watch.

Yeah I really enjoyed Luca, it's not top tier but is a great "low-key" Pixar movie.

Luca taught some Italian to my 5 year old.

Unfortunately the Italian he uses is "what's wrong with you STUPIDO!"

I thought Turning Red was a blast - really funny and engaging and the colour palette was beauts. Loved the anime-esque visual sensibility and even Mei Lin reminded me of something from My Neighbours The Yamadas or something.

Also I liked The Message and the execution of it.

I could done with more Panda-hiding escapades or more of the city-jumping Panda action but still had a great time.

For me, the best Pixar film is probably Soul (that piano scene!), though I'm less an out-and-out Pixar fan than most.

Anyone know why the new season of Atlanta hasn't gone live yet? Seems to be released in the US today.

Season 3 will premiere its first two episodes in the US on 24th March and over here in the UK on Disney+'s Star shortly after. It had previously been aired on BBC Two and iPlayer.

Shouldn't have too long to wait.

I was put off by the trailer of Turning Red... A young girl coming of age film called what it is... Might as well have called it 'Got the Painters In'. Unless I've misread the situation.

Normalising periods for young girls is only a good thing though
