Episode 1 was more of just a sitcom episode with very little to actually tie it to the MCU, Im guessing that as the episodes go by there will be more and more MCU stuff brought in and the sitcom stuff will be more of a side element by the end of it all.

The first episode is so naff isn't it?

I tried talking about it on the Marvel Studios subreddit but unsurprisingly that community is massively biased and people would just respond with "it's about the mystery" and downvote me to oblivion

The narrative in the first episode is just plain boring.

There's not even a mystery though. Life on Mars did the whole thing a lot better.

I know. But I'll quote you.one of the responses I saw ust as an example

> The second episode is engaging to watch even without the meta narrative, the first episode isn't.

Yeah, but the meta narrative IS engaging, and even just thinking about how normal the surface of the narrative appeared, with the sudden very dark dinner table conflict, well, not only is a mundane surface needed to create the anachronism which makes the concept interesting in the first place, but it also foreshadows a conclusion that is not only enhanced by the sudden appearance and slow build up of the powers/twist, but retroactively enhances all the seemingly normal stuff by showing that it was not what it appeared and making rewatching more than satisfying.

I dunno, the more we talk about why you didn't enjoy it, the smarter and deeper the show seems.

Hard-core MCU fans are as bad as star wars fans for refusing to accept that anything might just not be that good.

YEAH BUT IF YOU READ THE 45 COMICS AND WATCH 3 SEASONS OF THAT SHOW IN THE WRONG ORDER THEN YOU'LL SEE WHY YOU'RE WRONG

I'm just trying to work out how something can be both a "slow build up" and a "sudden appearance"... :|

Maybe they think Wanda being behind it all was a twist? It's not a twist given she's seen altering reality throughout the episode before that.

Most of reddit does deserve to be given at least two hours of W.O.O. to be fair.

I knew hardly anything going in to episode 1 of wandavision and the idea that it contains a twist or slow reveal that makes it different on a rewatch is insane

I think they just forgot the entire premise of the fictional TV show is that they're trying to keep their powers secret
