How do you start listening to music?

Every time I start off music I randomize all my music but I will always start with the same song, this is my start song it will change any few weeks for no real reason other then I feel like it.

Currently my starter song is "Because we want to" by Billie Piper

Do others do this or is it just me.

I always like to start with "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones.

Wait, what?

No, this is not a thing. This is just you. I've never heard of anyone have a 'starter song' before. If I want to listen to music, I just listen to music. If I want to listen to particular songs or artists, I just play those songs. I don't need to listen to a certain song beforehand as a gateway song.

Eh?

Can't say I do this, or have ever heard of anyone else doing it.

I don't have a starter song per se, but if I'm randomising my music I will sometimes pick a song I like to kick off. Currently I'm listening to a lot of Alice in Chains so I tend to start by jumbling up their back catalogue, starting with Nutshell.

Having a permanent starter song is weird though.

is at the top of my list, because that's what the music playing widget defaults to after a reboot because of the vagaries of file sorting.

Starter song, what? I put on a song I enjoy, I don't need to ease myself in to anything. And then to admit the starter song is 'Because I want to'

At most it'll be the first song on a given album. If I'm listening to a large playlist that I shuffle (e.g. I have one thats like 1000 of my favourite songs from a whole load of bands), I just hit... umm... shuffle, and see what turns up.

I mean, there's song I like at the moment and so will be the first one I put on but I've never thought of it as a Starter Song. Like, on my current Spotify playlist I'll tend to always put on Jet Lag by Simple Plan but that's just coz it's my favourite song at the moment.

So it just me.... I don't know why I do it, I just like to start from a known point. It has only been because we want to for a few days, it was Swagger Jagger before that and a Jesse Glynne song I dont remember the name of before that.

Depends on the genre or band/artist I'm going to be listening to.

I also tend to listen to entire albums in order instead of particular songs..

For all that music is subjective, your music tastes are objectively awful.

Apart from Billie, obviously

Jess Glynne's only good song is Hold My Hand. The rest of the album was a crushing disappointment.

Swagger Jagger though good grief m8 :dread:

This.

I have never put my music on shuffle and can't understand why so many people do it.
