Is that because it is homeophobic?

My worst joke ever.

They're still in Nottingham but they've massively scaled back their operations. Like most of the brand name bikes now, I think they just rebadge Chinese manufactured stuff.

Their old factory site is now the Nottingham University Jubilee campus.

I had an OG blue burner back in 84/85 and then spent all my pocket money on handle bars or brake upgrades.

Remember those Bear Trap pedals? You can still get them, but they're not like the originals from the 80's which can go for a pretty penny.

As for Raleigh BMX, here's some real beauties. No doubt worth a bob or two.

Kickstarted my love for bikes tbh (Now have a fairly decent mountain bike, hybrid, and a fold-up).

Bear Trap pedals :datass: C W Handlebars :datass: Mushroom grips :datass: 2 finger brake leavers :datass: Probably would have been cheaper just to get a better bike!

Mushroom Grips. Comfortable, but wore out quickly.

My Diamondback from around 1998 i still own and only 2 weeks ago took it to a BMX track in Reading (top pic).
I still ride dirt jumps it from time to time (mainly into mountain biking these days) and have some decent jumps local to me.

Frame - Diamondback Assault Ex Race frame
Forks - S&M Pitch forks
Cranks - Profile race cranks
Bars - Xposure dirt bars
Stem - Hoffman bikes
Wheels - cheap gooseberry fool
Brake - Shimano DX V-brake

Would love to own an original Raleigh Burner or a Robinson race bike from the late 80s or early 90s

I had a Raleigh Burner; the blue and yellow one (the version with normal spokes rather than mag wheels, though).

It was just ace! I got a racing number plate for it, added different grips and customised the plate wth Pac-Man stickers :) . I used to get the BMX mag each month, too.

I even once did a wheelie 8-) .

My dad bought me a BMX when I was little, and I loved riding around everywhere on it. It was shiny and silver, and I was a bit too small for it.

Nope, I was a skater. I had a small mountain bike. Then I had a proper mountain bike given to me but of course my younger brother who is well into bikes took the handlebars off and dumped the rest, so sadly I never really got into cycling, although I enjoy it.

Yeah it's a swish looking BMX, although I prefer this one as it adopts the classic Skyway colours

I have decided to make getting hold of and/or refurbishing classic BMX bikes a new hobby.

In the mean time I'm going to one of our local independent bike shops this Saturday and ordering this modern Mongoose. A birthday present to myself this June. 8-) It comes with a 2.75 TT frame so is okay for my height.

I'd rather be an Angel Summoner instead.

I was well into BMXing as a kid, although it was definitely more the freestyle side of things that I preferred. Thought the racing aspect was a bit dull in comparison. Even had the pictures of BMXs and famous BMXers (such as Eddie Fiola - who Wikipedia informs me, went on to become a stuntman in such gems as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) on the bedroom wall. I had a Raleigh Chrome Burner mk2 which I put Skyway Tuff II wheels on. Would've looked a lot like this:

Image

Except I'm sure mine had a layback seat stem.

My rich kid friend at the time actually had one of these beauties, a Haro Master Freestyler. Gorgeous.

Image

That or the GT Performer, below, were my fantasy bikes at the time. Again, beautiful.

Ordering this Mongoose L80 on Saturday. Also going to pick up a bike rack for the car so I can go cycling with my children when we're at the caravan in Weymouth. :D
