PostDo you order many takeaways?

Every day I now see Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Domino's going up and down my road, and I was just wondering if people here also order takeaways very often? Some houses seem to be having it 2 or 3 times a week. As interesting and appetising as the food looks in the menu photos, I've never had much luck in terms of it travelling very well. Pizza 9 times out of 10 turns up oven hot unless it's the thin ones like Zizzi, some items are warmish but retain their appeal when quicky nuked (curry, chinese) but burgers, fries and anything potato based are really terrible, and yet they seem to make up the bulk of Deliveroo's offerings. Five Guys, KFC, Burger King, Krunk, Taco Bell...in my experience these things don't work, and yet it doesn't seem to be putting people off from ordering. My neighbours even get McDonald's breakfasts delivered. None of it is particularly cheap, either.

Anyone had any good/bad experiences in particular?

I hardly ever order a takeaway; for me, they're too expensive. A few of my neighbouring residents get them pretty regularly, though.

When I visit a mate's to watch football, we sometimes order a Chinese or pizza and it always arrives okay.

I tend to get Papa Johns maybe once every 6/8 weeks, normally on a Friday or Saturday when we're too tired/busy to cook a meal. They normally arrive hot. Haven't ever tried using one of the myriad delivery companies for anything else, I always (irrationally) worry that things would turn up cold, especially if it were a McDonalds, for some reason. I'm sure they're fine.

I try not to order take away as I don't really have much cash and spending £20 a time isn't really appealing. That said I got a Chinese last night on the way back from the pub. I probably average one a month and don't think I've every got a burger delivered.

I can't remember the last time I got a takeaway. Doesn't really interest me tbh. If I'm paying for someone else to cook for me I'd rather just go to a restaurant than have food 20 mins after it's actually been made.

I used to but have really cut them out over the last few years. I’ll very occasionally get a Chinese or we might do a 2 for Tuesday deal with Dominos but it’s certainly less than once every couple of months.

I had my first takaway of the year last weekend.
I splashed out on large Chips and 2 savaloys and it was fine I guess but nothing special.

I occasionally get coffee's from the coffee shop at the swimming pool I go to regularly but I don't really do takaway food.

Whilst the pizza normally goes down well, the price of them does stick in my throat a bit. We'd normally get the "get an XXL and 2 sides" deal which is something like £18, it's an awful lot for what you get, really. But I get that you're paying for the convenience and a normally very full stomach.

I love getting a takeaway. Indian, Chinese, fish and chips, even a filthy dominos.

I'm not really into this Deliveroo, Uber Eats etc thing of ordering takeaway food from restaurants though, sticking to the more traditional takeaway options (not that i don't occassionally get a hungover Mcdonalds to my doorstep :shifty: )I'd rather go to the restaurant, pay the restaurant prices and enjoy the full experience.

We have a once a week where one night, usually on the weekend, we'll either eat out at a restaurant or get a takeaway.

Can't remember the last time I ordered one - was perhaps 6 or 7 years ago.
To me they're overpriced, unhealthy and there are better options (eating out, cooking at home).
If I couldn't be bothered to cook or had some kind of other reason for not being able to make a meal myself I'd sooner get a supermarket readymeal than order a takeaway.

Probably one a week, which isn't great considering we're not exactly flush these days. It's almost always sushi, or Dominos if we're being super lazy.

I tell you what, there are almost zero decent curry houses over here and the ones that are ok charge an exorbitant amount for tiny wee dishes with almost no meat. I haven't seen a single naan in a year and a half.

One or two a month, perhaps. But I always go and pick it up myself as often there's a discount and also the food gets to me quicker and hotter.

Chippy (hi Ad!), kebab, curry, very occasionally pizza but with the latter, like someone here already mentioned, the price is insane.

Wrong thread mate, you need the relationship thread for GILF advice.

Sometimes share one at work, don't really get them at home now at all really. I'm usually put off by the price and how unhealthy takeaways generally are.

On a related note, my mate got home hammered a few months ago on a Friday night and tried ordering food from various places that were all shut. He finally got a kebab from somewhere but the next day, and I'm not sure how he managed it, all the orders went through to the restaurants when they opened the so he kept randomly getting food arriving on the Saturday.

Three times

Think he'd spent about £100 on takeaways by the end of it.

Depends what you’re classing as takeaway - I’ll get a coffee of some description a couple of times a week from Costa or wherever but in terms of actually phoning food in, maybe once every few months. Which is an act of purest self restraint given that within a five minute drive of my house are the following:

6x Chinese takeaways
3x Indian takeaways
3x Kebab shops
3x Chippys
2x Pizza joints (Papa Johns and Dominos)
1x Chinese/Chippy hybrid
1x McDonalds
1x KFC
1x Burger King
1x Subway

Had Chinese at the weekend with PPM, but before that I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I had a takeaway. I'd love a deliveroo Five Guys though :shifty:

When I first scanned your post I thought you'd record your takeaways for the year so far and were listing them
