I don’t really use buses but on occasions when I have I would always say thank you

To be honest I'm surprised that everyone seems to say thanks as when the topic of clapping when an airplane lands came up here some time ago people were saying it was dumb as it was just the pilots job.

Tbf I don't initiate a clap when a plane lands (I will join if others are doing it), but I do always say thank you to whoever is at the front when getting off the plane, although I think sometimes it's just flight attendants rather than the pilot.

If I could approach a pilot after a flight and thank them, I would. Flying (and especially landing) is incredibly challenging. I don't think clapping works because it's unlikely the pilots would even hear it.

I do make sure to thank the cabin crew after a flight though. They do a great job, and I truly appreciate it.

It really depends, but usually I'll say cheers. If they drive like an idiot which I find they often do around Bristol I do not, because I don't enjoy feeling like we might crash the whole Journey.

Yep.

The only exception was the prick a couple of weeks ago who decided to be a condescending twat about "your generation" because I happened to be holding my phone as I bought a ticket. Dickhead.

Haven't used a bus for quite a few years now as i normally travel by coach or train, but i always thanked the driver upon leaving as it's good manners to do so.

I usually thank the driver because I've asked him/her to stop specifically for me and it's polite to thank them for it.

I haven't been on a bus that stops anywhere along the route (within reason) in probably 15 years. Are they still common in parts of the UK? I think it was the 413 and S3 in Sutton that you used to be able to flag down anywhere, it was great.

Yes, I do. And I tend to get one in return or some sort of acknowledgement.

You'd be a weirdo and extremely in the minority if you were to thank the bus driver when getting off the bus.

Plus the exit door being quite far from the driver means you'd have to raise your voice to an unreasonable amount (further making you look like a weirdo).

It’s almost like different areas have different buses....

We're obviously talking about buses where you get on and off through the same door at the front

I get the bus to and from work, when paying in the morning I always get on and say single ticket please and smile, then when I get off the bus I make sure to say thank you, I can hear all the people Infront and behind of me saying thanks so mornings seem friendly.. on my way home I say thank you but I don't often hear anyone else say it ......

I think it's nice to be friendly when and where you can.
