I get night time hallucinations regularly and have done since I was about 7 or 8. It's not sleep paralysis, as I'm able to move around and speak, but I'm often able to see people in the bedroom or out on the landing. These are people that are as real as seeing someone next to you in real life, and it's strawberry floating terrifying. It's never the same person, or the same kind of person. Sometimes it will be an old lady standing silently in the corner, sometimes a middle aged man who is walking around, other times a younger scary looking person who will put their hands either side of me over the bed (context) and lean right up over my face :dread: There was one last year where I saw a lady leaning against the chest of drawers by my side of the bed, so I lashed out to kick at her and booted the drawers back in to the wall, putting a hole in it :fp:

Latest one was two nights ago where I saw someone out on the landing crawling along the floor. I shouted "ARRRGGGGGH strawberry floating HELL strawberry float OFF" and my poor wife had to calm me down having just been woken by me shouting in her ear.

I know it's me being half asleep, or totally asleep but concious, but it's still horrible.

:dread:

That is seriously creepy.

I've had a few incidents which i've marked down as simply 'unexplained', but i've never experienced anything like that.

if i am really tired I do start seeing spiders crawl around. bit of a shame when I don't like the things.

once when I was a kid though, I was ill one night and sleeping badly. at one point I saw a mountain in front of my window and the loony tunes all standing on it, and buggs saying to daffy "leave him alone, he doesn't feel well". then watched them fade away. then later that night I woke up, looked on the floor and there was a lot of severed heads all looking up at me. that was a fun night.

Oh god yeah I also see spiders, although they're usually dangling from webs in front of my face.

I've experienced sleep paralysis a couple of times. I know I'm awake, or at least I'm dreaming and I think I'm awake, but I can't move at all. I strain to shout, but I can't make anything come out. Luckily I don't experience any of the 'demons' or other such hallucinations, but it's still pretty distressing, as I can get quite claustrophobic.

I did once have a weird dream as a kid, where some kind of goblin was in my room, carrying a massive sack of cartoon sheep over its shoulder. It grabbed me out of my bed and started to drag me to the door, but I managed to reach for the light switch, which made him disappear. And then I woke up, stood by the door with the light on. :?

I’ve had stuff like this a few times, once when I was on holiday in Spain, I woke up (so I thought) and there was a family of people who looked like they had drowned in my room, I shouted and it woke my wife up and then they disappeared.

Another time was last year when there was a woman standing by our bed, again I tried to shout at her to get out and she turned away and vanished.

strawberry floating hate this happening.

When I was about 5 to 8 years old, somewhere around there. Thankfully they stopped after that and never since.

I can't really remember what they were about. Monsters, I think. That and spinning, lights, a massive vortex...

I have night terrors and sleep paralysis where I see vivid hallucinations

As real as day

The problem is that they aren’t friendly, it’s always bad

The last bout I kept waking up paralysed for weeks and seeing and feeling these dark figures peeling my skin off my body starting from fingernails

I have been having a lot of vivid dream recently. Must be the anxiety caused by the current situation. Not all of them are bad though, mostly just weird and repetitive with plots that seem to run in loops and buildings built like mazes.

I have sleep paralysis most days, often accompanied by hallucinations although nothing as terrifying as what OP described. :dread:

What gets me is that when I'm experiencing this I often can't breathe and have to really fight just to take a breath and break the paralysis.

I used to have sleep paralysis frequently during my teens but I think it was due to sleep apnea as it stopped when I started using my CPAP machine.

Still occasionally (few times every year) happens but doesn't seem anywhere near as bad, usually as I'm waking up I'll see a weird spider like thing crawling up the wall which gradually fades as I become more awake .

The weirdest episode involved a large black dog with glowing red eyes trotting up to my bed and speaking to me, iirc it said something like "we are all dead on the inside", properly gooseberry fool me up for days :dread:

I have had dreams similar to your Victor, but they're extremely rare. Normally its a combination of things, usually i'm extremely exhausted, i've had some alcohol, and I'm emotionally compromised.

One time I had it I was on a ski holiday and had spent a good hour climbing back up an (empty) black slope to get my ski, I then got drunk on apres ski, and I was also on holiday with someone I was hugely in love with.

I had awful night terrors that she was trapped in an avalanche when I was on the slope with her, then I 'woke' to find someone standing over me. Then I woke up again for real screaming and had woken up the entire room with my shenanigans.

I had a dream ages ago where i "woke up" and there was 3 people looking over me as i slept. I go to put my glasses on to see properly and they vanish was proper weird.

Yet last week i had a dream where i am out in town and bump into 2 of my best mates and one of them says "my dad has died" they are both wearing suits. Anyway the next day while i'm at work i get a phone call from my sister that someone we have known all our lives a close family friend their dad passed away in the early hours. I was in shock but also found it weird the dream i had.

I had one really bad case of hallucinations when I was at uni (about 12/13 years ago). Had really bad tonsillitis and was fevery, thought I was being attacked by a demon and lashed out.

Since then, very little until recently. Had a couple of bouts of paralysis when walking up. Knew I was awake, could see around my room but things like hung up jackets looked like figures and it felt like I was getting dragged under.

Now it's developed into weird panic attack-like states. Been happening maybe once or twice every few weeks - usually I'll be dreaming and then something takes a turn for the worse - I'll be talking to someone and their face starts turning zombie-like before my eyes, or I'll see someone running at me from a distance or something. My breathing goes weird and I start sort of hyperventilating and letting out little whimpers as I try to get myself out of it. I'm aware it's happening to me about 90% of the time - often in my dream I'll say to myself "ahh gooseberry fool, here it comes" but whether or not I can snap out of it quickly seems hit or miss. My girlfriend can tell when it's happening and has managed to help snap me out of it by putting her hands on my back a few times.

It's strawberry floating horrible. Haven't managed to suss out a definitive pattern or anything yet but it's happened more often when I've gone to bed with something on my mind. Was going to go to the doctor's about it before the lockdown but it's hardly an essential visit now.

No, but my dreams are 90% lucid. I've woken up around 4 times before actually waking up before.

Most days, someone needs to physically wake me up. I blame a combination of my meds and my brain.

I've had sleep paralysis a few times, it's strawberry floating awful. And yes sometimes you can't even breathe.

I also fairly often have dreams about going psychotic but I'm just dreaming, then I wake up worrying about having gone mad and don't know what's real. That's fun.

Never suffered from this and after reading this thread I feel that little bit more grateful for it.

The first time I experienced sleep paralysis was when I was around 14, I was just about to fall asleep when I suddenly had a loud ringing in my ears and started having muscle spasms before finding a myself unable to move any part of my body other than my eyes or being able to breathe.

It probably only lasted 10 seconds but felt like minutes and I spent the rest of the night too scared to go to sleep thinking I'd had a seizure or something equally unpleasant.

A fair few years later I decided to try lucid dreaming after reading about techniques to induce it and only succeeded in having a horrific episode of sleep paralysis (accompanied by the single biggest boner I've ever had, seriously it was like a tree trunk  ) which lasted so long I feared for my life. The erection bit was alright but I decided that lucid dreaming wasn't a great idea and never tried it again.

I've had this a few times along with the breathing stuff. Genuinely freaked me out - was pretty much just going "awwwuuubbabablalabla wuwuaaababa" in my dreams really intensely in people's faces as they look at me like the psycho I'm blatantly being. Felt as crazy as it sounds.

I've had the "waking up multiple times" thing a lot over the years, usually just in that fuzzy state between waking up and nodding off in the morning. But it's also coincided with the creepy paralysis/hyperventilating stuff recently which makes it harder to work out whether it's happening in a dream or not.
