Do you type out forum code (smilies, formatting etc.) or use the buttons?

After realising that pretty much all of my use of formatting and smilies on here is done by actually typing in the code for them I was curious as to whether other people do this or if it's just an approach used by weirdos like me!

There's just something quite satisfying about typing out a 'toot', 'slol' or 'nod' that means I would rather do that than hit the button!

Also, I mostly post from my phone, and if I try to type most of the codes, it will try and autocorrect them, or put spaces in around the punctuation, so they won't work.

See I'm the opposite, posting from my phone is why I type them, it's too fiddly to keep switching between the on screen keyboard and the buttons on a phone so I just type them out. Google keyboard seems to know not to correct them.

I always use the formatting buttons... but I do manually type the filtered swear-words; I don't type f*ck but I do type strawberry-float... or, sometimes, strawberry-floatin'. I've grown to like the filtered versions :-) .

I often type the filtered words as well. On the odd occasion I've had to stop myself using them in every day conversation as well when I remember that nobody will know what the float I'm going on about!

Quick reply FTW; therefore I type for most of the time. If my reply is likely going to be length and require multiple bits of formatting, then I go to the normal post reply screen and I'm slightly more likely to use the buttons.
