I'm a bit of a collector of headphones and have quite a few and I was wondering how many others spend money on good headphones?

I'm using the B&O Beoplay portal Xbox at the moment (they got a recent price cut from £450 to £150 at amazon so I dived in) and they're really good.
I also have the Sony XM4 and XM3 headphones and earbuds along with tha 1more Quad drives wired headphones along with a load of others.

Having good audio makes all the difference to me as I hate having the sound up on my TV as the family next door are lovely so I don't want to disturb them.

I realise these are mid range and I could get a lot more expensive but these have been great so far and good enough for me.

So what do you game with?

I tend to play some games with friends and social games, racing or helldivers. So I use headsets a lot for discord chat with games. I started off with cheap headphones, then got Corsair virtuosos and now use an audeze maxwell. I noticed a bit of difference in the Corsair and audeze, they are comfy and battery is nuts. Not sure they are worth the extra price. The mic isn’t great on the audeze.

I also use a soundbar rarely for some single player games, Alan wake 2 and horizon.

I use a pair of Sennheiser TW3 True Wireless, they sound excellent but are slightly temperamental when charging up and sometimes require several attempts at putting them in the charger before they start charging.

Also annoying is that there seemingly aren't any 3rd party memory foam tips for them (Sennheiser don't make any either) yet can still get them for the previous model

I use Sony XM4 headphones nowadays. The ANC is great for blocking out annoying noises outside and the Bluetooth connection to my TV is quick enough for me not to notice any lag.

I also have the Microsoft wireless headphones (not bad) and the Arctis Steelseries 7p which are incredibly comfy and have amazing battery life.

I also have some Airpod pros (not the newest ones with improved ANC). They are neat too, but the lack of driver size is really apparent compared to any over the ear efforts.

I use headphones when I’m on the Switch/Steam Deck and my Mrs is watching the telly, only use AirPod Prods which do the job for me.

I have Sony XM4s too (seem quite popular on here!) Don't use them for gaming though, only music

I don't use them for gaming. Only for music, podcasts and porn.

I use the 3D Pulse headset for my PS5. It's wonderful.

I only use headphones on Switch when playing handheld (and just some standard wired headphones at that).

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends on the game really. No matter how much you try you can't beat room speakers, whether from a soundbar or a proper surround sound system but it's not always a practical solution. I doubt the neighbours want to experience World War 2 going off at 10pm. I own a pair of B&O Beoplay Portal PC/PS which are excellent (though have now been delisted by B&O - they seem more interested in selling virtually the same headphones for silly money) and Sony XM4s for music.

Having fixed them a few times I've been using the same pair of Sennheiser HD 448 for about 14 years. Found a spare parts website to replace the pads with some faux leather ones that are better than the originals (but were originally for another pair). I've replaced the input jack with a Neutrik connector.

I also have some small AKGs and CX300-II in ear. I've again rewired those with chunky Van Damme tour grade classic XKE cable and a Neutrik connector because they typically break eventually, but unfortunately I managed to do so backwards so the channels are swapped.

I lost something similar to Shure E2Cs which was very annoying as they were good and discreet, particularly good for electronic music.

But besides that I mostly use studio monitors.

I wouldn't mind a really good pair of headphones some day, I never seem able to justify the expense. Sound stage balance and clarity are all more important to me for music production stuff, mine aren't that good but they aren't particularly overbearing in any dimension. The AKGs have strong bass production equivalent to using a subwoofer, the in-ears similarly so but not overbearing. So I can choose which for different things or travel etc.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."
