The best way to respect the war dead is to have a punch up in Tesco.

As police scrambled to the scene, the CEO of Tesco could be heard over the PA system saying...

We’ll fight them on the beaches.
We’ll fight them on the landing grounds.
We shall fight them in the egg aisles, and in our Tescos.
We shall never surrender.
Staff announcement: Could Sally clean up on aisle 7. That’s Sally to aisle 7. Thank you.

Exactly why I deliberately waited until 11am had passed before going to Asda

I hope they get proper PTSD support because they might develop shellshock.

It's actually been pretty quiet this year, the poppy police put in an appearance this morning.

I'm not an expert in communications, but I'm wondering if "Attention Snowflakes" is the best opening line when trying to argue your point.

There used to be someone who put giant plastic poppies on the lamp posts on the next road over, but they're not there this year.

However, they are now in our road, and I think it's pretty obvious who's doing it - the house on the end recently changed hands, and there's poppies on every lamp post leading up to that house, where they suddenly stop, and then they have a few in their window.

Also, there's 14 coffins in the picture and only 13 flags at the end of that message - clearly the author doesn't believe that one of them paid enough of an "ultimate prices"

It's not about making a point; it's about getting attention either from people arguing with you so you can play the victim and/or get supportive comments from like-minded idiots, regardless of the cause.

No. I'm Irish so that isn't going to happen. But it doesn't bother me and I wouldn't judge someone who does. 'Poppymania' does seem to be real though - find myself laughing aloud watching the Spurs game at the weekend when a poppy was on a corner flag.

That's a purposefully ironic picture right?

I genuinely hate how much waste the poppies create. I wish everyone would just buy a metallic badge they can wear every year.

This. People can do what they want, but I'm not a hypocrite.

Generally not, but I don't have anything against people who do wear them.

What I do take exception to is someone telling me to wear one.

I really hope that's a still from one of those parabolic flights, where the coffins then slowly lift off the ground and clatter about the place for 30 seconds.
