I hope everyone stood on their doorstep and observed the minute silence.

It was a two minute silence, you can't properly look down at other people if you are only quiet for one minute.

I stood and clapped to simulate the gunfire our brave heroes would have had raining down for them while they liberated port Stanley Tesco.

From my local area,

Brawl breaks out in Tesco eggs aisle during Remembrance Sunday two-minutes silence

“I only went in for a chicken.”

The best way to respect the war dead is to have a punch up in Tesco.

I was thinking earlier about why I feel a degree of cynicism and annoyance about the poppy and Remembrance Sunday.

I think the reason is that as a country we have completely failed to learn the right lessons from world war 1 and 2. Today should be a moment for sombre reflection on the horrors of war and appreciation for how lucky we are for not having succumbed to the horrors of fascism. Instead it feels like this country just wanks itself dry in a nationalistic frenzy, gloating about how great we are, all while simultaneously holding views on immigration and foreigners that would be perfectly befitting of the fascists the allies defeated.

It's a bit too late to be advertising that Ghost Recon game.
