Very few dogs have jobs and the rest just laze about and occasionally poop in a park. Who decided that was the sign of a hard working bunch?

I can poop in a park and sleep all day but nobody's going to claim that makes me a hard worker :roll:

I'd say I work reasonably hard. My main job is playing the drums, so that aspect doesn't really feel like work, but on the flip side I do pretty much all of the driving in my band, often 6 hours to a show then setting up, hanging about for 3 hours before playing, doing 1h30 of playing with a break in the middle, then packing down and 6 hours home. So I could easily be out the house from 10am until 4/5am with 12 hours of driving. I typically only do this a couple of days a week and if I'm doing Friday and Saturday then there's usually accommodation and less distance to cover between shows (though not always) so that can balance it out. There's nothing "difficult" about the job other than a lot of endurance and patience (and the skill of playing drums and performing, I suppose). In fact, I'm writing this during some down time, waiting to play at 9:30. I also do some admin stuff for the band and do the technical stuff like mixing tracks that we play with and stuff.

My other jobs are 1 1/2 days making sandwiches for ungrateful bastards and a couple of 5 1/2 hour shifts watching over some rehearsal rooms. Butty making isn't taxing in and of itself but some days are super busy and require the usual resource management that goes into being in charge of a shift at a busy shop. I've worked there for long enough now that I can kinda set my hours and know the job inside out enough to just get in and get things done then go home. The rehearsal room stuff is typically super chill. Go in, make sure the rooms are tidy, make brews for customers, do some hoovering, Netflix, YouTube, fill the dishwasher, do one.

So uh... Kinda work hard for 2 intense days then, sometimes work hard at a sandwich shop then don't work harder than required for the other nights.

I do work pretty hard most of the time.

I used to work in gooseberry fool public facing jobs when I was younger though so this still feels like a dream in comparison. Plus I live it up in my spare time which tends to counter the stress.

Nope. I hate my job and have zero motivation. I can probably get by doing about 1-2 hours of proper work each day, the rest is pissing around online, chatting to colleagues, or having pointless meetings and pretending to be interested.

That being said, it pays well, has good perks (10% annual bonus, international travel, etc), and is piss easy (although I hate the travelling part :lol:

).

I could definitely do more in the role, and earn more as a result, but I hate all the corporate bullshit, politics and game-playing that I'd have to be involved in, and so I've no desire to progress or move up the chain, so to speak. My girlfriend works ridiculously hard, and very long hours, and she probably earns double what I do. For me the pay isn't worth all the stress, tiredness and long hours though.

I feel like I work pretty hard all the time, a few days I work stupidly hard. In retail I find it really depends on your coworkers, if you’re on with a good bunch then everything goes a lot smoother, get a couple of people who take the mess and it gets a lot more stressful, as the same few people then have to carry the department for the day.

I work full-time and study part-time so I put in quite a lot of work each week. In regards to my actual job though, I have learned long ago that no one is going to shower you with rewards if you for going above and beyond. We do not live in a society that really values hard work, however much people would like to claim otherwise. Most people in high positions got there through relentless self-promotion and social connections rather than any kind of astounding work ethic.

I have been in work since 7am today (making up hours!) so maybe that does mean I work hard....

...or maybe I have just been sending emails to prove I was in and spending the rest of the time listening to podcasts and messing around on the internet...

Now I'm an assistant English teacher at a junior high school in Japan. I help create activities and games for the students, and help teach new grammar, but I'm not really in charge of the classes so the main teachers work harder than I do. I work usually from 8am to 4-5pm, but it often doesn't really feel like work. I don't know if that's because I'm not doing enough, or because I just really enjoy it.

Depends on the weather for me. I do my job as well as I can, and when my tasks are done I don’t do extra. I don’t do extra projects or corporate bullshit stuff, admin jobs I will do if they are delegated to me but I don’t seek out extra work. My company has a lot of keen beans in their mid to late 20’s trying to prove themselves and get promoted up the chain. Me I’ve tried to just do what I enjoy and what pays ok. I’ve managed to get myself abroad which gives a little more pay, but now my work life balance has become too intertwined as I live where I work. On the plus side the work isn’t too taxing for 8 months of the year, on the negative side, during thunderstorms in winter it’s one of the most stressful things I’ve ever had to work with.

I do my job to the best of my ability, because that's what I'm there for, and I'd be bored for 8 hours otherwise. Plus if I didn't everyone else would have to work harder to compensate, and that's unfair on them. Also, I'm not a lazy, entitled piece of gooseberry fool who claims to hate my job, but won't do a damn thing about it.

I do work hard and I am passionate about what I do but I am increasingly learning how to manage my time effectively and to prioritise so that I am not working constantly. When I first started teaching it absolutely took over my life and as well as working long days without a break I was also bringing lots of work home, that's no longer the case but it's more to do with me being more efficient than anything.

I work just enough to earn enough to live on and I'm 43 so my partying days are well and truly over.
I haven't been properly drunk in years and honestly don't miss it.

I don’t work hard per se, whilst at work I work a lot and I do it well, but I wouldn’t say I work particularly hard.
