I am dreading it for its potential to completely strawberry float with established Who lore in a typically hamfisted Chibnall way.

At least I can rest safely in the knowledge that no matter what they do or how badly they strawberry float it up it'll still be better than anything to do with Rose or Martha.

Caught up with the last episode now, not the worst of the series but not a great setup for the finale either. Irish stuff didn't feel integrated well and obviously the drones were strawberry floating stupid. The whole opening was poor really but it did pick up once they got on the ships.

The trend of people saying what is happening shows no signs of slowing down either. Such bad writing.

I'm assuming that the Irish stuff is setting up the backstory for the lone Cyberman in some way but the way they left it just makes it feel random at this point.

Overall it was entertaining but i have some issues. Gonna spoiler it as it’s a bit long

Right first of all we were treading familiar ground with this being the 3rd time in 6 series that the master has teamed up with the cybermen. And the whole cyber time lords was reminiscent of the Dalek time lord thing from witch’s familiar and stuff seen in nightmare in silver. Chibnal seems to fond of the last of the time lords shtick that he decided to bring it back in a more extreme way.

Whole thing felt a little cartmel master plan determined to make the doctor more than they seem. Sure adding to time lord lore and giving an origin to regeneration is fine and all but why make the doctor the timeless child wouldn’t rassilon or omega made more sense? Felt like chibnal thought they were losing the mystery so he made so even the doctor doesn’t know who they are or an extreme attempt to sort out the continuity error from brain of morbius.

The doctor not being who they think they are and not even being a time lord takes something away. Ruins the dynamic between the doctor and the master a little and for some reason makes the first doctor seem less special that he was no longer some one who wanted to travel and found a calling in fighting evil no he was just following some subconscious drive.

I dunno maybe I’ll get over it later but I never got the idea that the doctor had to be special

Nice shoutout to borusa

Why is the series so damn short? It was gone for a whole year and ten episodes is all they could manage?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I don’t know (or care ;) ) about the lore of the show, so don’t know if that strawberry floated anything up.

I enjoyed the episode for what it was. It was entertaining and I strawberry floating love the Master.

It’s also very badly flawed though. So many holes in logic and basic storytelling. Christ, I sound like Taf. ;)

I might have missed something but how did the particle go from “it will destroy all organic life in the universe!” to “it will destroy all organic life on this one already dead planet”?
