Yeah, I should have clarified that it is all the complete stories and not the missing ones, although there is a reconstruction of The Wheel in Space that isn't available anywhere else as far as I know.

I watched the updated Terror of the Autons last night. Had to highlight just how amazing the new visual effects are.

Nice, Matt! At first I couldn't see too much difference but as things progressed I noticed the background updates and the better removal of edges around the characters. The squid alien near the end was the biggest update!

I don't recall some of those sequences - was this full storyline included in the Twitch Who marathon a while back? That must have been a few years ago now... I really enjoyed watching that with you and the guys!

It looks good, but I'm not that keen on the animation art style, I watched the Ice Warriors dvd a while ago and I hated the animation in that one.

shada is an incredible story but ive never seen the animated version. see it was a story that was only ever half filmed due to strikes and the animated version was an attempt to complete it

Just saw this post as I haven't been in this thread for a few weeks. I read the novelization of Shada and really enjoyed it. I'm a little bit torn that Shada had such a difficult production. On the one hand it would've been a great story if it got fully realised without strikes etc. On the other hand, if it got released as planned would Douglas Adams have written the Dirk Gently books?

Yeah it was in it. You were probably distracted by Jo.

Doubt it would have made much difference. Dont think Adams was long for running Who as he wasnt really up too it. Not that he wasnt talented as strawberry float but his work rate/deadline issues are well known.

I meant if it got released as normal plot points like Professor Chronotis would not have been lying around unpublished on his writing desk, so he wouldn't have had the seed of the first Dirk Gently book.

Like Classic Doctor Who? Like Red Dwarf? If you answered yes to both of those then you'll probably get a few chuckles out of this:

So I only just got a VPN working and am working my way through Jodie's Doctor slowly.

I didn't really get on with Capaldi and don't think I actually saw his regeneration into Whittaker but it hasn't seemed to matter so far. So far, quite enjoying it but it's not scratching the itch it used. I really like Whittaker's take on the character, and Whatsisface from Eastenders is good but the two younger companions are really boring and have no chemistry. I thought the Rosa episode had an interesting take that featured either an incredibly complex final message or one that was spectacularly badly communicated for a kids show.

When they're all on the bus at the end and they have to get the right racist driver to do his shift and then make sure the bus is full enough to make sure that Rosa will definitely be asked to give up her seat; I mean, fine, fixed points in time, Pompeii stuff etc. But then when the Doctor and Whatsisface have to occupy seats in the whites only section and keep schtum to force the encounter with Rosa... I mean, Ok, plot wise I get it, but that's a really weird message to hide in a kids show. Like, sometimes it's better to not speak up? Sometimes it's Ok to do just do nothing in the face of oppression because otherwise.... you might end up doing more harm than good? Don't support BLM, you might accidentally get in the way of the next MLK Jr? Just keep your head down and enjoy the status quo?

Again, I might be overthinking it, but it was a very weird scene.

Just watched Demons of the Punjab, and THAT was a cracker of an episode. First one of this season that really got me on side.

(Except, unless I blinked and missed it, there's a big hole in how did the Grandma end up with the watch?)

I can barely remember anything about the last two seasons. I've liked Whittaker on the whole, but the quality of the stories and writing has been for me the worst in the New Who era.

I just really hope they can send Jodie off with a decent season that hopefully redeems her run somewhat

i agree, jodie is a marvellous doctor but the writing lets her down. at first i thought it was cause they were trying to add in a bit of education into the series but they stopped trying that for the next series, to the point it was clear they didnt fact check anything, and it was about the same. i dunno why its ended up like this chibnall wrote some decent enough stories before but then thats true of a few people whove written really bad stuff. both his predecessors had their low points but it never quite annoyed me like this.

well maybe love and monsters

Think its very deliberately meant to be uncomfortable. They have to do something they detest in order to make sure events play out properly and there are plenty of other scenes that show "the gang" opinions on things. At least this is what I thought at the time but some of the morals in this run are all over the place. :dread:

Incidentally I (finally) watched a couple of decent youtube vids breaking down the Chibnall era so far and then my feed was full of angry rascist/sexist suggestions. :dread:

I know the Daleks are evil, but not even they deserve to be banished to WSM. ;)

Capaldi was much better imo than whittaker. I thought even in the bad episodes Capaldi was a good doctor. I think Jodie is OK, just not as good as Capaldi. I also think in total theres like 2 good episodes of Jodies run so far.

Capaldui was quite a good doctor but some if the stories he was given let him down. That said, David Tennant who was brilliant, suffered from the same problem at times, as did my fave doc Matt Smith.

To be honest I've not seen any Jodie Whittakers episodes, I'm sure she does a good job but I've heard that her scripts aren't up to scratch either.

I think the BBC need to hire some better writers.
