Can RTD resist the temptation to flick the reset switch at the end of every single episode?

That's my main concern with him. His best stories were written by Moffat from what I recall.

It was certainly a very 'british daft' plot wasn't it?

I guess with Sony at the helm we may not get many camp RTD stories.

They're back! David Tennant and Catherine Tate return to Doctor Who.

One of the most loved pairings in Doctor Who's history have reunited and are filming scenes that are due to air in 2023 to coincide with the show's 60th anniversary celebrations.

I wonder if they are planning something quite dramatic. As I understand it, most of the reboot doctors have ended up having to step down because the filming schedule was really challenging.

So, and this is obviously a nuts pure guess, I wonder if we are going to get some kind of universe split. Ncuti and Yasmin do a series, then you have another universe where Tennant and Tate do a series and they alternate for a few seasons.

I imagine that would be more attractive to the actors as it allows them to film other projects on their off years.

My New Who run through with my 8 year old is going well. Just finished the first of Capaldi's series. I think I only saw one episode during the original run, which turns out was one of the worst ones where London had been turned into a jungle or something. The rest of the series was absolutely excellent. Easily the strongest of the entire revival for me. Capaldi is also amazing, so completely different to Eccleston, Tennant and Smith. A hint of the classic era whilst being completely fresh.

Very impressed with the writing of his first series. Easily the best Sci fi BBC have done in over a decade.

Does it legit start to tank at some point, as I'm enjoying this run through even more as I get more up to date? I think my little one prefers the younger doctors, but the great story lines and nods to the past series have kept his interest.

Good to hear you're enjoying the New Who watch CRD!

For me Capaldi just got better and better as his run went on. His performances in his last few episodes were just fantastic, I was so sad to see him go. He was my favourite Doctor of the new Who run. He could say so much with just a simple glance and deliver on the fun or serious sides of the character. He had such an on-screen presence. You have so many great Capaldi episodes ahead of you (some of my all time favourites).

Enjoy it while it lasts though, as soon, the Chibnall era begins.......

Yeah, this ties up with my thinking, too. I wasn't too sure about Capaldi in the first episode or two but, to be fair, I think that's often the case with a new Doctor. Matt Smith's first episode was - IMHO - bloomin' awful but he want on to be a terrific Doctor. The whole "getting used to a new body" thing for Doctor Who can mean a "silly" first episode but then the storylines can start.

Wow. Smith's first episode, The Eleventh Hour, is still quite possibly my all time favourite hour of New Who. It's basically perfect IMO!

Capaldi definitely grows into the role, his era is never awful but takes a bit of time to find its feet. Ends very strong though!

'Heaven Sent' was my favourite Capaldi episode, possibly my favourite new Who episode. Overall I enjoyed his run as the Doctor. I don't gel as much with Matt Smiths run but that's more to do with not liking Amy.

I always found that Capaldi's Doctor had the best character arc. His ideology from his first season to his last episode completely changed and was satisfying to me. It changed naturally and was believable. He had quite a few bad stories though, BUT the character progression was wonderful. As was Capaldi in the role.

Same here. I remember seeing it for the first time and was completely sucked into the story, especially after the previous episode. The feels when he tells 'The Shepards Boy' story over the beautiful music by Murray Gold and finally breaks through
