that episode was, the only word that feels right is mild

the main story with the sontarans was decent enough though im not sure the fact that it was spread over two time periods was needed. still feels like theyre trying to hard to make the ravagers seem evil. and know we know, or at least its been suggested that what going on is basically fixed points in time but dialled up several notches. hmm

I assume those women in the temple were weeping angels then.

Hmmm. I yet again found myself entertained on the whole but I'm not sure the core of the story made much sense. Why are the Sontarans making bases across Earth history instead of just taking it over in the earliest time period? Then they could all just launch attacks whenever? Why is a race so good at war all stopping to have lunch at the exact same moment and not at least leaving a few guards out? How did the general manage to get all those explosives set up in just a few mins? Also where were all the other space dogs when the humans were getting killed?

If the purpose of the story was to have thematically explore the Sontarans, the British and war then it missed the mark quite wildly. There was serious potential for a decent story here but I don't think it ever really happened. What if the moral of the story, the drama and the tension came from having to decide to aid that injured Sontaran or not?

Regardless congrats to Jonathan Watson for doing a great job balancing humour and being a bit of a bastard.

I really enjoyed War of the Sontarans , I still dont really like Yaz, I still don't really like Jodie's acting as the Doctor but I enjoyed Dan/John Bishop a lot , and Dan Starkey was brilliant in it.... The dog creature has grown on me a lot as well. Id probably put this in the top 5 of this Doctors episodes. First time in ages I have really really enjoyed Dr Who even if yep I admit theres weird plot point mcuffins going on.

I thought that was a vast improvement on the first episode. Not perfect, but held my attention and had some good moments.

you know i kinda feel like chibnals monsters are trying to fill spots that are filled. theres this sense of fanfiction almost as if hes going "see my OCs are way better than the established characters" or maybe im just reading to much into his generically evil skull faces

I liked the second episode more than the first, though I wouldn't say it was anything special. I really enjoyed seeing the Sontarans again, but I think I would have preferred a story more focussed around the Sontarans vs the British army, it felt a bit half-baked here. This series hasn't bored me so far which is a relief, but I can't imagine re-watching either of these episodes years from now - it's no-where near the previous highs of Who so I'm not going to give Chibnall much praise yet. Still hoping it all goes somewhere great and doesn't leave me disappointed like last series.

I think so far the dynamic between the Doc/Yaz/Dan is working better then the fam and that helps. Also it helps that this week in Commander Skaak we got someone who 13 can play off. She works much better like that.

Was a bit let down by Mary Seacoles part in the story tbh. It was a good performance but I think taking a famous nurse and making her biggest contirbution to the story be spying on the enemy a bit of an odd choice. Could have done much more with her maybe treating human prisoners of the Sontarans. Crappy shooting aside I did think the Sontarans in this were great. Much prefer that classic armour to the RTD one. :datass:

"I wanted to ride a horse" will probably be my fav Chibbers line.

well that was kinda meh

chibnal is doubling down on the timeless child and so far i do not like it. with only three consistent plot threads yaz and dan were a little tagged on in this one. which seems to have given vinder more of a story focus than one of the main characters. too bad his backstory is rubbish, i mean that guy got stupidly definsive over the phrase "everyone wins" i mean just what? his girlfriend's story was rubbish too and the bit with her and the cybermen was rather cringy i know weve had stuff a bit like it before but that was just bad.

next week looks better but my hopes are down

I found this weeks episode to be worse than last weeks, it was kind of all over the place and just weird, it seemed like far to much crammed into a short space of time , yet weirdly it felt much longer than it was like time had crawled practically to a halt a few times while watching it. I just cant really buy Jodie when she does angry, it just doesn't feel very angry at all, now Capaldi's anger was believable with those attack eyebrows.

I just found it completely uninteresting. I was watching just for the sake of it, not because any of it was any good.

Shame as I didn't think last weeks was too bad.

Messy, confusing episode. Good to see the Fugitive Doctor but I felt she was very underused again. Would've preferred if they'd just had her acting those scenes instead of Jodie, with Jodie maybe being more of an observer. Using the companion actors as other characters didn't work for me either, just made it more confusing. Half way through the series and I feel a bit lost on the main story, no idea where it's going and I'm not really enjoying the ride.

Never thought I'd see my old neighbour shooting Cybermen, lol. I don't feel at all invested in the love story between her and the guy we barely know, though.

There has been stuff in the previous eps I've enjoyed. Even if I thought the Sontaran stuff was underbaked it was still quite fun. But the last one. Even from how they got out of the cliffhanger.... :dread: Last week you actually see the Doctor when the fingers click. Its there and repeated in the previously clips... But the solution? The Doctor somehow activated bullet time before the fingers click? Even though we've just seen them click. strawberry floating dreadful.

Me neither. But then I also detested Bel (no offence to the lady playing her) I found all of her parts to be irritatingly sappy. So horribly sweet to the point of saccharine. Just felt so horribly mawkish. And then the big twist is... she is the partner of Vinder. Whoopy strawberry floating do! Actually I might have been more invested in her if I knew who she was first! But thats Chibbers all over. Also why the heck is Vinders world in ruins when the Flux so far absolutely destroys everything it touches?

It hurts to see Jo Martin pop up as I really like her performance but dislike everything around it.
