I liked the scene but its timing was terrible. Thanks to smarted people on twitter I discovered this term for what happened-

I hadn't even considered the stupidity of the whole set up at the time. The real villains of the story were the ship designers. Who builds a space ship ambulance that has to travel on a set course? Did Team TARDIS just luck out that it was passing by? Who designs a space ship ambulance with no way of properly communicating with its base? A lot of this could have been sorted if the Pting was an actual hostile intelligent lifeform. That took out systems logically. Or.... they get to the end and are suddenly all charged for their medical treatment and you realise the company in charge has been cutting corners to save money!
