They should back Jodie's regeneration with 'this is a man's world' or I'll be disappointed.

This gonna be absolute bollocks. Makes absolutely no sense. Worst comes to worst it'll be like 2 to 3 where it happens but you don't see the actual full change.

it does sound like utter rubbish. one of the another cited reasons was the bbc wanted a huge break between the old and new doctors, the near year long gap we are getting apparently not being long enough

David Tennant as the new Doctor and Catherine Tate as the new companion. Let's party like it's 2008! :toot:

It sounds too insane to be true, surely!

I can think of a way id like Catherine Tate to return and that's as a robot... just think the Professor (as Ace calls him) is a genius right, and all the time people he feels close to age or die and end up leaving him one way or another what if he decided he had gotten fed up of that and would build himself a companion and he would make it look and think like one of his past companions...... from there you have all kinds of ideas you can play with, do you have it start off robotic and learn to be more person like, or do you have it be a person and then get injured get a hole shot through it which shows the person they are a machine and have them deal with the crisis of not really being alive and the fact that there whole personality is just programming. Not saying this needs to be Tate you could get any past companion or you could do it as just a new companion but I think its an interesting idea.

I just think it would be interesting to have a character who is not a typical man or woman from earth from around nowdays.

Yep I know about Kamileon but it was underused probably because the person who knew how to control the robot prop died, also Kamileon knew he was a robot and could change how he looked, I am talking about someone who is a blade runner type robot looks just like a human and who doesn't know they are a robot, its a very different idea and no its not an april fools I think the idea has a lot of mileage, you'd have a companion who likes the Doctor cause they've been programmed to but then finds out there a fake person and the Doctor has been lying to them not letting them know he built them and then you could take this anywhere...

I'll pay a £20 a month subscription (on top of the licence fee) to the BBC if they make that a proper Doctor Who series.

Oh I see. my bad

Actually sort of reminds me of one of the original ideas they had for rose, where it would have turned out the doctor had been manipulating her whole life to create the perfect companion

I've started a rerun of the rebooted series with my kid. Up to the 10ths first episode now.

Really interesting watching these again. I've not seen Eccleston's series properly since it was on TV. I remember I found him a bit bland the first time around but bloody loved his version of the doctor this time. It must be age that's done it.

I figured that I could explain my robot idea a little better if I talked about it and explained some of what you could do with it.

I thought it could be interesting to have an episode set in the 2060s with a monster in a care home, where you have an older Donna with dementia (probably not the Tate comedy character!). The (now completely different) Doctor visits her. She tells him about the great life she had but never clicks that it was the Doctor she was talking to.

Alternatively you could have an episode with her at her current age where she's neck deep in an alien plot which the Doctor has to foil without her actually knowing anything about it because it'd kill her.
