A few too many (familiar) theme s - but a good mix for post turkey fun

Remember Space Titanic or the Trees...it could be far worse

I enjoyed it most than the last couple of years offerings.

The movie list, the alien reference, Santa and an interesting few ideas.

A good balance between light and dark.

The Thing Alien Inception.... OK I guess. Especially compared to some of the shite episodes this year.

2nd best Christmas episode for me, after A Christmas Carol.

I would've appreciated a little appearance or mention of the Dream Lord. Other than that, top episode, by far the best of the Christmas specials and thankfully far more Who than Christmas.

Really enjoyed that episode, best Christmas episode since The Christmas Invasion. Only Doctor Who could get away with 55 minutes of an episode being a dream

Didn't Dallas do a whole season that turned out to be a dream?

Even though the episode was all a dream, it still all happened in the minds of the participants, and had to if they were to survive the Dream Crabs. Nothing was retconned, after all.

Too much retconning if you ask me.

They didn't seem to explain why, out of all the people in the world, it managed to pick 4 random strangers and then, somehow, both Clara and The Doctor (who actually didn't seem to be on Earth come to think of it) who happen to know each other.

Seems like a massive strawberry floating coincidence to me, I would've liked it better if The Doctor had purposefully planted those crabs to show Clara the life she wanted (with Danny) in a dream and then subsequently show her that it was worth living once she was taken away from it.

Definitely the best episode since A Christmas Carol. Had it's flaws but was much better than some of the other efforts.

Nick Frost was pretty good and didn't overstay his welcome. So many aspects reminded me of Half-Life :D

More Clara though :(

Bonus Who present from the other half:

Can't say I really enjoyed that overall.

Clara is definitely getting a bit long in the tooth now though. I haven't really liked her as much as I once did as the latest season has progressed, and now she seems to be slipping towards the same trap as Rose and Martha, getting all frothy in the knickers for the Doctor now that Danny is gone.

I'm also really not a fan, in general, of the whole 'it was all just a dream' plots. It feels like a stupidly cheap way to just do something and then have absolutely nothing matter and you can just undo anything major. It's just lazy writing and renders more or less the entire episode completely pointless.

Also, what the hell is it with this Doctor and volcanoes?

Tbf, the dreams had an effect that you can die.
