Another the series isnt over yet trailer.

Rather like the tweak to the Cyber design. Reminds me of The Invasion mixed with a Roman legion helmet. Just hope they sort the voice out

Oddly quite liked Praxeus in the end. In between the cringey environmentalism I thought there was quite an interesting story with a pretty unique threat. Still too many characters, mind: could have got rid of the vlogger girl with no ill effect on the episode at all.

Thought tonights ep was bloody great. Probably my fav 13th Doctor story so far. Only things I didn't like were the Doc talking to the non existing companions about a million times in a row. I mean it was fine the first time but after the 72nd  Also that bit with the Sonic was strawberry floating crap. :dread:

EDIT- The animated bit was really cool too even if I thought some of the art was a bit too cutesy

Oh and some great references for us nerds.

So so episode this week, better than last week though the guy going around giving people Wet Willie's to put them asleep was a bit odd. Also the CGI werewolf looked awful, I really like an episode with Jodie on her own with none of the fam with her.

It was ok

The mental health felt like they got lost in it all, did didn’t realise it was meant to be in there until the end. Bad guys went down a little easily I thought like they just stood there and waited for it to come. Kind of feels like they’re setting up yaz and Ryan leaving that conversation at the end reminded me of one Amy and Rory had. The bit where the dr pushed the screwdriver out her pocket by slamming into the wall felt daft. Did like the shout outs to the guardians, the eternals and the toy maker.

Something about that moment with Ryan and his friend playing a game made me cringe

I think it was better than last week but just OK really. IMO they covered mental health much better in the Vincent and the Doctor episode. It felt like a lot of it was kinda thrown in here, maybe would've worked better if we'd seen the companions struggling with stuff more rather than being the happy-go-lucky interchangeable fam so much.

I liked the basic story with the immortals, though the finger stuff was weird and I wouldn't have minded them getting away.

Didn't appreciate the reminder of Orphan 55

Thought it started off really well and then realised they had no time left to finish the plot off properly.

Could really have done with being a 2 parter

I enjoyed it but the CGI was appalling at times. It would have been far better with just the creepy immortals invading people’s dreams, it didn’t need a piss poor monster and bizarre fingers.

well looks like next week will confirm a whole bunch of audio dramas as non canon as opposed to just ambiguous

Messy episode feeling very much like most of the run.

Companions fairly pointless (the even lampshade the fact it's basically just someone for 13 to talk to/soundboard off) and mostly interchangeable. (Why was Yaz in school 3 years ago?)

Great villians that were defeated in a rushed lackluster manner and then a corny "Oh yeah it's a mental health thing" 10 minute denouncement.

Really quite surprised to see so many negative views on last nights ep. Gave everyone a genuine thing to do. Cracking villains. The theme was worked in well throughout and the end far more natural then the mini lectures we have been getting. Some wonderful design work, loved the ying/yang look of the villains and the fingers were fab. Very surreal take on a form of biological USB sticks and as such very fitting. Imagine waking up and seeing him, you'd think you were still asleep. Bit of a shame the Syrian girls fears were not explored a bit more, possibly why it was the more obvious monster to overcome symbol. Something for the younger side of the audience. Sure the conclusion to the plot was rushed, as is often the case for New Who, but compared to something like The Witchfinders the story had been told. The baddies didn't just blurt out their MO at the end it had all been drip fed through the ep. And rushing it was worth it for the last part as we finally got some decent character stuff. If only the bulk of this run had been this good.

I agree with Garth in that it wasn't as good as Vincent and the Doctor. But then that gave us one specific form of mental health with his rather severe bouts of depression. Here we got far more approachable and domestic examples of peoples anxiety. The sort of things everyone has to deal with, not just those badly ill. Feeling alone and cant be arsed to look after yourself? Worried your not about to help those you care about? Feel out of place and misunderstood by those around you? Scared about your own physical health? Terrified of a CGI wolf that others don't think is real?

The scene with the Doctor and Graham has got some very mixed views though. It certainly felt odd to me at the time. Maybe an attempt to remind everyone the Doctor is alien. Maybe because she cant really die she cant have the same understanding. Cant help but feel this scene could have been better. Maybe it looked fine on the page but once performed it got lost somehow. Maybe they thought the Doctor might have had more of a twinkle in the eye. Maybe there are no real words to do that justice.

Why was it called can you hear me?

The thing she said to Graham was ‘can you see me?’

Bollocks.

No one in there was talking but going unheard. Then the title would make sense

I was trying to work out if I was misinterpreting that scene, if it was more to show this Doctor's insecurities or just that she's too alien to relate. It seemed weird to me because we're supposed to see them as a family now, and 13 has been a more kind and caring regeneration, but she couldn't say something even a little bit comforting to Graham which felt cold to me on such a serious topic. Going back to Vincent and the Doctor, I really liked the bit at the end of that episode with the Doctor comforting Amy and talking about good things and bad things in life - it might have been nice if this moment with Graham was more like that, more of a show of empathy and kindness from 13 towards Graham which could've helped make their bond as a 'fam' feel more real/believable.

I think one of the things this season is trying to show is that despite outward exuberance and affectations - this version of the Doctor is quite closed off.

But that isn't the same has having a lack of empathy...

that would have been a nice touch
