Does anyone else hate Sports Sims?

I do. I've always been gooseberry fool at them. Half the problem is that I hate the sports being simulated in real life anyway, but even sports I don't mind playing like Basketball make my skin crawl in sim form.

I do of course exclude silly, arcadey, simple efforts like WiiSports or Mario tennis but I think anyone can see they bear such little resemblance to their relative sports that they don't really count.

I'm not a sports fan in any real sense at all, the only thing I pay any real attention to are the Summer and Winter Olympics, and on occasion the footy World Cup tournaments. Nothing else holds any interest at all for me, so it stands to reason that videogames of those big boy games will hold no interest for me at all. I just don't understand the appeal.

im not a big fan on sports games as i too am gooseberry fool at them, however that said i like fight night round 3

Not generally a fan but I have probably spent over 60 hours on G1 Jockey over the last six months.
Does bouncing along on a nag's back count as sport? And what about horse racing?

Aww, how can anyone hate FM or the early CMs...

Except the Americans that is!

Im not a big fan of sports games in general, at least not Sims. Id rather have a round of Mario Golf than Tiger Woods for example. But I dont mind them, and certainly wouldnt chalk out of playing a game of FIFA or NBA around a friends house, as sports games are infinitely more fun in 2-player IMO.

I really do despise the CM and FM series though. Far too slow for my liking, I always preferred the more quick-fire nature of LMA, USM or SWoS. I dont like spending 4 hours trying to balance tactics for a tin-pot league game vs Bury.

Games like SSX are fantastic, but I'm totally uninterested by a sports game aiming to be completely realistic.

EA Sports 09 = total strawberry floatin' win. Everything from FIFA to Madden was bloody awesome.

So, no. I don't hate sports sims. Unless they're made by Konami, in which case they're shite.

NBA Jam, SSX and Everybody's Golf are among the few sports games I actually like.

I can't stand most other sports games though.

Probably my favourite genre, actually.
