Set my Wii U up and finished the penultimate boss and then final world and boss off this weekend.
Such a good game this, the level design is wonderful
Might try and unlock all the K levels now :toot:

I bought the switch port but have saved it for Christmas, becuase for some reason I always find the dkcr games really Christmassy. I never did finish the U version for some reason.

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere but Game Xplain interviewed David Wise for DKC's 25th anniversary, and while a lot of it is around the original trilogy he discusses Tropical Freeze too:

Unlocking the K levels is one thing, getting through them is another entirely.

Still having nightmares about Bopopolis. :dread:

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Yeah, Bopopolis is the hardest level in the game.

Rest of them aren’t too bad though.

Got a sealed copy of the 3DS port of DKCR to play, very tempted to play it as I loved the Wii version but the motion controls were a pain.

Bopopolis was mental, I agree with people saying it's the most difficult. It was amazing to beat, given how precise you need to be.

Still, I don't think this games K levels are a patch on DKCR's ones, in terms of difficulty. The barrel one was nightmarish.

It's a decent port, given the hardware it's running on. Runs mostly at 30fps. It also has some extra levels, but I never got to play those (I didn't want to put myself through the process of unlocking them).

DKCR is a great game. I hope they remaster it.

I wish Nintendo had told Retro to make another DKC after TF instead of whatever they wasted 5 years on, and completed their own DK trilogy.

Same. Hopefully we'll find out what Retro were doing at that point.

There was this unconfirmed rumour from ResetEra (I know):

https://nintendosoup.com/rumor-retro-st ... cancelled/

Maybe one day we'll find out more about whatever cancelled projects they had after Tropical Freeze. I suppose there's still a small chance they might have something ready before Prime 4's release, at this point though it seems unlikely.

Still can't believe Retro waste 5 years sitting on their hands and then doing that Tropical Freeze port.

Donkey Country Returns on 3DS is blooming amazing, music is top notch espcially the rocket barrel and mine cart levels.

Yeah, I watched that this morning.

One thing I had missed from the rumour talk was the LinkedIn profile that mentioned series lore. Confirms at least one of the things they worked on was a Nintendo IP.

I still think there's a small chance they'll put something new out next year. They could easily have finished something that Nintendo want to sit on and give it an open space in the release schedule.

Decided to play this on my upcoming trip, played and beat it back on Wii U but fancy a bit of DKC action

Question, I notice you can only start the game in one mode and not change midway. If I start in Funky mode can I still play as DK and play the game as normal but then if I get stuck switch to Funky to help? Or is it just an all out easy mode.
