That GTA VI rumour I might normally dismiss as wacky, but in light of the discredited story that Sony were buying Take Two & Rockstar, perhaps there's something in it.

That's precisely where I am, personally speaking. I buy 90% of my games digitally now. The thought of leaving those behind would have been a real issue for me.

I'm not a "fanboy" of Sony but, yeah, I''ve invested a fair bit of time and money into PS4 and I'd hate to lose that now. I'm open to MS and Nintendo (and anyone else) doing gaming stuff that could entice me... but, at this moment, I feel I'll be looking towards PS5 as my next gen system.

PSVR and general Backwards Compatibility have pretty much guaranteed I'll get a PS5 at launch (Or within a month or two). Microsoft have been making some great noises recently, so I will no doubt get their next system, though I'm not sure if I'll get the original one, or wait for an X style refresh.

Apparently this will run some PS4 games in 8K too and games like the Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding will have additional PS5 graphical features on the PS4 disc.

This is one of my favourite gaming seasons, when the leaks and news about the next-gen starts coming, and there is now substance to them!

Hopefully we'll get cheap PS5 upgrades for first party games as while I'd like them to be free I'd not grumble overly at maybe £5 or £10 to upgrade.

I think I'll probably go PS5 next gen. Backwards compatibility is a major sell, as I don't have a PS4.

I'm certainly getting a PS5 if only because the forum crew all have them and even if they don't upgrade I should be able to play PS4 games on the PS5.

I haven't had a chance to read much on this subject yet. When they say backward compatible is that just with PS4 or can I finally get rid of my PS3?

PS4, it shares the same x86 architecture so it'll play the games naively (unlike Xbox One's emulation solution for X360 games).

If it is backwards compatible with all PlayStation system games regardless of region it will be something I'd want. PS3 not being able to play imported PS1 games was always an annoyance.

Ah okay, guess I'll be hanging on to my PS3 a bit longer then. I have a hard drive full of downloaded games partly from PS+ but also a load I've bought. I don't really want to lose them.

As far as I know PS4 games are region free.

Great news about the backward compatibility. Makes my decision to go digital this generation seem like a lot less of a waste of money.

Will be pre ordering the second they give a release date.

Wish my image sig would work

I think I feel more confident about buying games digitally going forward now.

They're making digital purchases for consoles a viable option now.

Also, Cerny never said 2020. He just said not 2019 so it's still speculation and not fact.

I find it hard to believe that GTAVI will be available within two years. RDR2’s development time is longer than that, right?
