Can anyone remember if lack of stock was this bad when the PS4 launched? I do remember you couldn't get a Wii for months after that came out

I think Covid has a lot to answer for with stock and manufacturing. Lots of people at home doing nothing.

More rumours that Amazon will get more on the 1st Feb and Smyths should be getting more in early Feb

Only when the shops like game/Asda/Tesco get them in and it's in-store only do most people have a chance of getting one. A way to avoid this would have been if PlayStation had used people's online ID and messaged them directly. Then allocated them and skipped the stores completely.

Twitter consensus seems to be that Very will now have stock on Thursday.

If nobody paid scalper prices, the issue goes away in an instant.

Why can't you just pre-purchase? 1 per household, locked to 1 credit or debit card. When they get it in stock, they'll ship it to you.

If Sony still operated a shop, they could also do this and link it to a PSN account. Or bring back the PS2 allocation forms.

There's various methods that could be employed and they choose not to do it.

If I was Sony, I would be looking at all the people buying them at a higher price and think, we could sell our next console at a higher price and it looks like people will pay.

Aye I used the Stock Informer Discord to get the wireless headset. It’s pretty handy but I’d imagine it would be pointless for the console because of shite like in that tweet above.
