Sony has also announced some info on PS5 game sales to gamesindustry.biz:

Spider-Man: Miles Morales 6.5m
MLB The Show 21 2.0m
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart 1.1m
Returnal 0.56m

Miles Morales looks to be the game that many PS5 owners bought to test out their new console. IMHO the Returnal sales suggest that pricing has deterred some gamers from trying it. No mention was made of Demon's Souls sales.

I think the fact that PS5 consoles are so tough to find and that I'm gonna have to save up for one is making me more eager to become a player. I've even got a space* on my TV stand ready for it  :fp:  .

* Yes, a strawberry-floating huge space - I've cleared the shelf!

I *think* the shelf space is big enough.... [Googles PS5 size and goes to get tape measure].

Edit:

PS5 size: Approximately 390mm x 104mm x 260mm, or 15.4" x 4.1" x 10.2" (width x height x depth)

Just measured and it does fit. Gonna be horizontal. Imagining it right now :datass: .

PS5 doesn't fit too badly on our unit, it does have an entire shelf to itself though!

I'd have loved a big new TV to hook the PS5 up to but that's not on the cards for a while in our house.

As a compromise I just sit really strawberry floating close to the screen when I play!

10 million sold? Feels like a fraction of that with the supply issues.

Really late to the party to say but man I really enjoyed Astros Playroom, just fully shows off the controller & it was fun to go back through the PlayStation history. Made me miss the 90’s, the magazines (OSPM/PSM.. etc) and the adverts

Storage Expansion coming to Beta users -
It looks like support for the PlayStation 5's SSD expansion slot is finally coming.

Sony has published a new support page on how to add an M.2 SSD to a PS5.

Firmware which supports M.2 SSDs is only available to beta users right now, but will be enabled for everyone in an upcoming system update.

Rather hilariously, the instructions for installing your new SSD are rather cumbersome. The support page states - Before you begin, you'll need:

A well-lit room with a table to work on
A #1 Phillips or cross-head screwdriver
A small flashlight (optional)

There are also 12 steps for the installation itself.

Seagate confirms first PS5 compatible SSD in Aus $ - Firecuda 530 (500GB - $140, 1TB - $240, 2TB - $490, 4TB - $950) - https://www.finder.com.au/seagate-firec ... ystation-5 & https://nascompares.com/2021/06/28/seag ... -revealed/

They've counted every sale and each unit has sold about 4 times on average.

Definitely interested in it. Closest point of comparison I can think is this indie game from last year, A Street Cat's Tale:

But obviously being 3D makes a big difference!

I'm still hyped for getting a PS5 at some point - I bought the new edition of Play mag yesterday! - but, man, costs are crazy. Just read that the first of the PS5-compatible SSD expansions are now available from Firecuda... 1TB is £234, 2TB £381 and 4TB £770  .

"Get a second job" has never sounded so necessary  .
