One of those 'I'm only playing this because I've just bought a new console at launch' games.

That Godfall trailer, from what I can make out of it as the video is tiny, just looks like God of War in terms of graphical fidelity. I'm sure it's probably got extra super-duper volumetric farts and devil rays with extra shaders and 3 whole polygons, I'm not a techie.

I don't know what I'd expect from the next gen, to be honest, games all look amazing these days as it is (and I know I'd have said the same playing on my PS2!).

I haven't played Resogun for a few years but I bet it still looks incredible to me. I don't really know how many things I need flying around.

I just can't see me jumping in at launch here. My life, gaming priorities and available time are all so different to when I bought my launch PS4.

If they can come up with some tech wizardry that allows you to play the majority of PS1, PS2 and PS4 games and make them look better, with retrofitted trophy support, I'll be so happy. I don't know how they'd automatically do the latter, but it'd still be brilliant if every month Sony chose a selection of games that they added trophies to, therefore giving people another reason to replay them.

You then look at how poorly they handled the PS1 Classic and I'm not optimistic, even with the rumour last year that PS5 would be BC beyond PS4.

PS3 is I guess impossible, PS1 would require either A) almost zero effort to allow the discs to work or B) effort to make them something you'd want to play on a 4K TV, but what's their excuse for PS2 not working? Microsoft are managing it just fine - albeit SLOWLY - with Xbox (Wiki tells me they got it to 41 titles before presumably getting bored).

Properly supported and enhanced backwards compatibility would be a serious plus point for the PS5 in my book. I still have most of my PS1 and PS2 game collection so would be very interested in a way to play those again, potentially with upgraded performance. Trophy support would be a really smart move as well.

They definitely need to take a look at what MS have been doing and following their lead.

Could it not be the Wet Bandits?!

EDIT - Whoops, wrong topic!

As much as I loved my PS1 and PS2, I have no desire/time/inclination to revisit any of the games now. Just give me seamless PS4 compatibility and I'll be there.

The ability to finally purchase/rent 4K movies and TV programmes on the PS Store on PS5 would be nice too, another thing MS currently makes available on Xbox. Even trailers are in much higher quality on Xbox, whereas they're not on PS4. :?

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Toy Story 4 on it last year.

A Sci-Fi ND game sounds way too good to be true.

As with advancements in tech I don't expect a huge leap but it mostly depends what devs aim for. Stuff like better loading, higher quality audio and RTX has more exited than simply getting better graphics. Small things go a long way.

It’s a Saturday, I don’t recall conferences ever being held on a Saturday, but that’s great for maximising your audience.
