PS Store can be rather slow for me (now really bad if you happen to use it on the PS3), though the UI is always fast (PS4 Pro, using the PS1 theme).

Nothing is as quick as the PS3 XMB though. Unfortunately.

I've taken over this original PS5 thread from Nick. If there's anything PS5 related you'd like to see in the opening post, then please feel free to make suggestions.

The chap in charge of the PS5 User Experience has also said that future special editions of the console will be the most customised special editions yet. Here's hoping he's hinting at the outer white cover(s) being replaceable. Can't find the link to it right now, though :fp:

Xbox 360 tried the different faceplates but it didn't really take off.

I'd like the covers to be removable and sold separately, but is selling limited edition consoles a better money spinner for them?

Got to say I agree but then I don't find the Xbox One UI appealing either so not sure what it is I want

The settings menu in particular is just a mess - far too many sub-categories and finding an item that feels harder than it should because there are many areas where it could plausibly live (and then you discover it's actually listed under something else that makes no sense at all! )

Typical Sony nonsense then.

They're genuinely incapable of having software/firmware that actually works as intended or iis fit for purpose.

Google (TV OS) and Microsoft (the ongoing disaster that is Windows 10) aren't much better, either. A lot of companies are now suffering with bad, glitchy, slow operating systems for some reason...I think because they can't LEAVE THEM THE strawberry float ALONE.

What the PS menu is sorely lacking is a huge banner at the top that highlights all the latest Luton news as it's surely what everyone wants the most.

I have no problem with the PS OS as it's pretty intuitive and not overly fussy. I prefer a minimalist view rather than loads of icons and stuff.
When are we all expecting the price to be mentioned? Given the machine is likely out in November it can be much more than about 6 weeks away at most, surely?

The shittiest things about the PS4 OS:

- I can’t have trophy notification sounds on without turning on that strawberry floating horrendous key tone.
- Folders look awful. They just get mixed in among all your games
- I can’t just use Bluetooth headphones

Haven't really encountered many issues with Windows 10 other than strawberry floating Cortana trying to get me to set up voice recognition every time I use my bluetooth headphones and the piss boiling 'dock' button on the onscreen keyboard (which utter mong decided that a feature intended to assist disabled people with mobility issues would have an easy to accidentally click button that makes it fill half the screen then require manually resizing rather than it remembering what size it was) but they're more irritating than actual serious problems.

I preferred the PS3 XMB. It’s legit quick.

Hoping the PS5 will be a bit more like the PS3 XMB with a tidier PS4 folders.

Just some of the issues users have faced this year alone...

Windows 10 May 2020 Update is causing more problems, this time for those using the popular Chrome browser, who are being logged out of their account every time they reboot their PC – and this is reportedly happening with other software too, like Battle.net.

As Windows Latest spotted, there are multiple reports of this bug on Google’s own support forum (linked here: 1, 2, 3) and on Reddit, with anecdotal indications that this gremlin not only affects the Chrome browser, but also Battle.net, and possibly Edge.

So it seems that this is an issue with Windows 10 and the latest upgrade, rather than with Chrome. Browser cookies are apparently being deleted randomly, and users are being logged out of their account(s), and forced to log back in repeatedly.

Windows 10 has a new reported bug which has been introduced thanks to its latest cumulative updates – which have also broken printers – but this time, the problem is that the OS is forcing the tablet mode interface on the normal desktop.

This is happening to users running Windows 10 May 2020 Update (having installed cumulative update KB4557957) and the November 2019 Update (with KB4561600), going by reports that Windows Latest spotted on Reddit and Microsoft’s own Answers.com forum (as well as the Windows 10 feedback hub)

https://www.techradar.com/news/windows- ... -to-fix-it

Windows 10 has recently once again started displaying a nag pop-up that takes up the whole screen when it appears, which could have some users worrying that their system has installed an update without their knowledge somehow (or that their PC has even been reset).

The full-screen nag prompt enthusiastically addresses users on the subject of ‘making Windows even better’, and as you might guess, the way you can do this is by hooking up your PC and account with other Microsoft services which are linked in the pop-up.

https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/windo ... t-services

It seems Windows 10’s update woes are still continuing, with Microsoft’s latest patch, KB4549951, reportedly causing serious issues for some users.

As Windows Latest reports, some users who have tried to install the latest update have seen error messages such as 0x8007000d, 0x800f081f, 0x80073701 popping up, with the installation then failing.

Windows 10 KB4549951 is an important security update for Windows 10 1903 and 1909 – the two most recent versions of Windows 10 – so some users are understandably concerned that they cannot install the update.

However, it appears that even if you can install the update, you may encounter serious issues, with other users complaining that once the update is on their PCs, they start to encounter some very annoying problems.

Many people who purchased budget laptops over the last 2-3 years have found they can't receive security updates either as they were fitted with small flash drives.

Something has to be going into that USB slot for it to be slap bang in the middle like that. Seems like a really strange place to put it. You'd never see Apple doing that!

Something integral to VR2 is my guess.
