Anything equal to or below that of the Xbox One X (£425) has to be classed a major win.

He writes for VentureBeat and apparently *a lot* of his recent "predictions" have come true.

What is the Mel Gibson one?

But yeah- Jeff has been leaking a lot of stuff lately that has turned out to be true.

Mel Gibson guesses include: Mel Gibson - Braveheart - Lockheart and Maverick - Project Maverick (unannounced Star Wars games that leaked on to PSN earlier in the year) However, in latest update to the list, he's stuck '(THIS IS MORE IFFY NOW)' beside it. And also added a State of Play for early August, which he says will be a PS5 games showcase.

Jeff Grubb's latest update -

Sony and PlayStation 5

Between the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, we seem to know just a touch less about the former. Sony Interactive Entertainment hasn’t shown off the console itself. We haven’t seen any games.

But that should start to change in the coming weeks. Sony has a couple of events in the works. And these should provide a closer look at the next generation.

First is a Sony event in early June. The company was originally planning this for June 4, but it is moving it around. The exact date is more nebulous now. That doesn’t mean it’s slipping by a matter of weeks, though. The early June timeframe is still the company’s current plan.

What should you expect from this early June event? Sony was putting together a roster of next-gen games (not just first-party). The shifting date, however, may cause some complications in that regard.

And I do not know if this is when Sony will finally show the physical console itself. It’s possible, but I cannot confirm that.

I do anticipate that Sony will have shown the PlayStation 5 off in detail by the start of its following event. The company is putting together one of its State of Play video presentations for early August. This will highlight a combination of current- and next-gen games.

Through August, you should still expect Sony to communicate using its blog and social channels as well.

Seeing as it's got its own date, though, I'm still going with new Star Wars reveal.

One thing I've discovered about waiting for PS5 news: if you click on one article that promises much but turns out to be an article about nothing, presumably for clicks and advertising revenue, your phone will try to serve you loads more...

The Daily Express really does get everywhere too with their clickbait articles.

'You won't believe what this celebrity is doing with a PS5!'

So, are Sony still showing off their games in June? Or (as the tweet linked above states in the image) have they pushed it back to August so they’re showing their stuff off after Microsoft in July? Really eager to see both companies first party efforts so I can decide which is a better fit for me going forward.

Official PlayStation Magazine is supposed to be having a load of PS5 games in their issue on sale Tuesday 2nd June (which has probably now hit deadline), but I don't know if that was all based on prior expectations of Sony/third parties doing something. It could just be games already announced, such as Assassin's Creed and DIRT 5.

If still on track, you would think it would be embargoed info, and therefore Sony would have something coming up within the next couple of weeks?

I'm surprised they have time to write all those articles, with the amount of time they spend making ones about The Chase.

I’d like to think so, I’m guessing both will be coming out in November and we’ve seen next to nothing of the PS5 and relatively little of games on the Xbox. So a November release only leaves approx 6 months so it makes sense to really get the ball rolling next month in my opinion.

It does seem rather odd that Sony are leaving it so late.
Maybe they're going to have an absolute last minute blitz of advertising rather than have a longer PR campaign.

Both companies are going to spending an absolute fortune and I imagine adds will be pretty much everywhere soon.
At the moment I'm more interested in what the console looks like. Have they gone with a bog standard console slab or something at least a bit different?

Early June is still the preferred rumour to believe, with another showing in August.

Speaking of which...

So if June event and the above are true, I'm guessing we'll get the price and launch date, and more games, in the (rumoured) August State of Play.
