Randomly checking will just be a waste of time, either you need to follow a discord server or twitter account and jump on it as soon as it alerts you, be ready for a known stock drop that is announced in advance, or sign up to something like Curry's stock allocation that Buff used. The latter is the easiest, if you're happy to just sit and wait until stock is available you may as well do that anyway.

Strangely enough there has been loads of stock drops today. Never seen so many at once!

Thanks for the tip, Drej. I don't have a smart phone so I tend just to look when I'm on my computer. I've pretty much set myself that I'll have to wait until Amazon/Argos get bigger supplies and then I'll order.

... . I saw a report pop up about Asda but they'd sold within a couple of minutes, I understand. I got into a "wait" queue for Smyths but the only thing on offer was an expensive bundle and I just wanted the console.

I agree with this. HOWEVER! Some times last week, @DealsFoundry (Digital Foundry's deals Twitter account) posted an Amazon UK stock drop. I saw the tweet when it was 11 minutes old. Amazon still had stock even though a total SIXTEEN minutes had elapsed. But yeah, don't *just* rely on Twitter.

Sony has acquired the chips they need to meet their shipment target for this fiscal year. (They plan to have shipped 22.6m by March 31, 2022.)

Its amazing how nearly a year after release we see 25 minutes of availability as a lot of time

Maybe also less btos on amazonas it doesnt make much sense for scalpers to keep hoarding stocks if Sony will increase availbility soon and the sense of desperation to get it is not so big anymore.

I kind of imagined trying to pick up a PS5 at about the one-year-after-release mark but I'm seeing nothing, aside from Returnal and Astrobot, that is in any way compelling me to try to get one.

People who've got one: how's the experience been so far? Playing it much? Playing actual PS5 games much? The whole thing just seems so meh to me. If my PS4 wasn't reaching frankly ridiculous noise volumes (and heat )while playing, I'd probably be happy with that for at least another year.

It's pretty much a PS4 Super Pro for me at the moment. I'm playing a lot of PS4 games now, going back through my backlog and having a great time.

Astrobot, demons souls, ratchet and clank, Spider-Man, immortals, have all been great, but there's nothing ps5 wise I'm really looking to buy.

This is it for me as well at the moment, it's been a great way to appreciate a whole load of PS4 games that I never properly played on that system - some of the upgrades that games have received for the 5 have really made a difference as well.

There's a good lot of PS5 games that I want to play as well, but with so much on my backlog and the ludicrous prices for them right now I'm happy enough to wait!

This is how I feel (except Ratchet instead of Returnal).

My Pro is running fine and I have a backlog, so I'm happy making my way through that.

As I did last gen, I think I'll wait mid gen to upgrade.

Astrobot is fantastic, Ratchet is ok, Returnal is on the list. My girlfriend has Demon's Souls but it's not for me (and I already have it on PS3 anyway). Hopefully I'll play Returnal in a few months or something and then a new exclusive will be here before too long, but for the immediate future my Switch is keeping me completely occupied.

Returnal is fantastic, the price seems to be putting off a lot of people (understandably!) but I'd definitely recommend picking it up when it eventually goes on sale.

The upgrade to PS4 games is great, but PS5 games that are unavailable on PS4 are a bit thin on the ground. Returnal and Demon's Souls were both great, I'm looking to pick up Ratchet and Clank for cheap at some point, and very interested in Deathloop but it seems most of the upcoming big games are getting a PS4 release, so if you're on the fence I'd say it's probably worth holding off for the time being.
