Oh get over yourself, man. It's a trickier process than on other consoles; that's all. No big deal. Not everyone feels comfortable about looking into and buying heatsinks. If you do and you think it's easy, that's great.

Why does anyone have to look into and buy separate heatsinks? Why can’t you just look at a list of compatible drives and pick one? That’s literally what I did.

You’re arguing that it’s too hard to do if you choose to take the hardest available path do it. Complaining about the barrier to entry being too high while ignoring the easier path available. If that’s not making a mountain out of a molehill, I don’t know what is.

You have to know which SSD to buy, you have to open the expansion port on the machine to fit it, you have to own a screwdriver AND a torch!

It does seem like a right fanny on.

What even is a heat sink? Is it like an ice cube?

It's a passive cooling component - helps to draw heat away from a chip like the SSD but without needing to be a moving/powered part like a fan

>>> A GRcade exclusive: First visual impressions of the PS5 DualSense controller <<<

+ Looks sleek; the black and white colour scheme works well...lovely!
+ I like the translucent dpad and main buttons
+ Comfortable and a nice sense of weight without being hefty
- No coloured button symbols (the logos are grey) and the PS button is black; I think I would have preferred it to be white, grey or coloured to stand out against the black background
- The analog stick heads appear to use the same rubber material as the DualShock 4 which didn't seem to wear too well; I bought (cheap) head covers for the DualShock 4 and I'll do the same with the DualSense

Overall, the aesthetics and feel are very good. Maybe I'll get to use it one day.

Expanding PS5 storage sounds less complicated than installing the PS5 stand tbf.

I'm not sure, Dual - no set plans right now. Gotta get the rest of the cash together and then just be lucky as to when I see Amazon or Argos actually selling the console. It seems that they sell out within minutes of getting new stock so I guess it'll be pure chance.

In the meantime I can charge up the DualSense, look at the empty space under my TV and use imagination ;-).

The stand felt incredibly cheap and crappy when I put it on, but I've not thought about since so it's largely irrelevant what the quality of it is I guess

I kinda did get that impression from looking at photos and vids. I had those feelings about the Switch dock so I shall prepare myself for worse with the PS5 stand. It's disappointing as the slim PS4/Pro stands are pretty good; simple but solid translucent plastic that work well.

Hmmn.

PushSquare has pointed out that PS5 users will need to choose the heatsink version. The 1Tb model is currently £159.98 without the heatsink at Amazon UK, and £244.49 with the heatsink at Amazon UK.

It does feel like sellers could be profiting from the PS5 "must use heatsink" requirement.

Tbh I think I'm gonna be fine with the stock unit. I'm not gonna be playing more than two or three games at any one time and I think I'll be okay with shuttling games to and from an external HDD as I want to change them.

Considerably more than the Xbox Series 1TB equivalent expansion memory card (£180 at Amazon currently).

I just checked eBay to see how many PS5 consoles are up for sale (a couple of thousand) and how many have been sold (many thousands).

So frustrating. I guess it's gonna continue right through until regular consoles supplies are available. I wouldn't buy one myself unless it was direct from a retailer but I guess there are plenty of folk willing to pay the extra.

While that’s true, that particular drive is literally the highest spec one on the market today, and there’s no need for anyone to go for the ultra high-end option. And even then, that price is from a third party seller price-gouging. The drive is £208.99 https://shop.westerndigital.com/en-gb/p ... XHE-00AFY0

I got a 2TB one with a heatsink for £360, which is the same price as if I wanted to expand my Series X storage by the same amount, except I don’t have to keep shuffling cards around the back of the console, I get more games on it on account of PS5 games being smaller, and when I’m done with it on the console I can put it in my PC.
