Streaming?

Could be. Stick their new game streaming service app on the old consoles so you can play next gen games on them.

Sounds like an utterly confusing mess.

The traditional generarional leap served Sony well this gen and has Microsoft not strawberry floated up and launch it would have served hem well too.

Guess I'm just too old fashioned in this world of Minecraft and Fortnite and Microsoft's vision for the future just isn't for me.

How is it a confusing mess?

PlayStation offer a streaming service too you know.

A PS Now style service might work, but I don't think internet speeds are good enough for it to work.

I don't find it confusing either TBH. We've had streaming and physical media options coexisting with music and movies for years already too. Gaming is definitely going the same way. I expect we'll see game streaming apps on a whole range of devices in future.

Yeah it's not confusing, phones can play XB1 games with XCloud so the XB1 can play XB2 games with XCloud, probably at 1080p. Always good to have options, hopefully its good. I expect it'll be seamless as well.

Developers are already saying the cpu's in the current gen (even the mid gen refreshes) are holding them back.
Developers will do what they always do and have a base version of a game on xbo/ps4 and a nicer next gen version with next gen specific features and at some point transition to only making next gen games.

Read a few other articles on the matter, makes a little more sense now.

Option 1 - Buy Xbox Two for £400 to play Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Two games natively.

Option 2 - Subscribe to XCloud and stream Xbox Two games to your Xbox One device.

The sub will surely need to be pretty expensive to offset the fact that they're letting people play the games without a) buying games and b) buying a console.

Maybe Microsoft's plan to win the next gen is to make everything free :shifty: .

I'm sure they can find a spare $20B somewhere.

You're right, maybe I've gone too far the other way and compared it to PS Now.

You’ll still need to buy the games. :slol: MS will make their money off the games being bought through the MS store with no retailers taking their cut.

They make little money off people buying consoles anyway.

I'd like it if they could add a streaming option to Game Pass and all my Xbox Store purchases, so for instance maybe I could have streamable next gen games on old gen hardware (or a cheap streaming device) via Game Pass and my individual purchases from the Store.

It might be handy on next gen hardware too if I could quickly try out a game on Game Pass by streaming it first before deciding whether or not to spend time downloading it, or maybe having streaming as an option for trials of games on the Xbox Store.

What the hell's Navi 10 Lite?

We know it's going to be Navi anyway, we're all waiting to know how many TFlops.

I think we'll have to wait until the info can be confirmed with solid facts.
I'm just happy that so far it seems the jump to next gen is going to be decent and able to do 4K 60 with relative ease and if both companies are trying to make a powerhouse gaming machines (rather than banging on about multimedia) then it's all the better for us all.

Latest rumour doing the rounds, 3 consoles will be releasing next winter.

Xbox Two S - 8 TFLOPS
PS5 - 10 TFLOPS
Xbox Two X - 12 TFLOPS

After the botched Xbox One launch, this is a very wise decision if true.

Who knows what caliber of games their new studios will produce, but in terms of hardware and services Microsoft are really getting their house in order.

As long I can play my PS4 games on the PS5 I’m happy.

PS Now isn’t that great. Even with my high speed BB, there are still some lag. It’s a lot worse in games like Uncharted, RDR1, pretty much any TP games. Even Batman Arkham Asylum have some lag in the combat system.

If cloud processing is so powerful why do we need new consoles at all?
