I’m no tech wiz but with the specs mentioned for the base PS5 already, where does that compare to where PC’s are currently at? Is it more towards high end, does it surpass even that?

Too many unknowns to say. Here's a PC Gamer article on it though: https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/how-the-play ... aming-pcs/

Interesting. It had been (widely) assumed that Sony was just doing one SKU to start with and that the 'power hierarchy' was going to be: Beast XBox>PS5>Povvo XBox.

I'd be surprised if Sony is obviously flinching in response to the Beast XBox, but maybe that 'most powerful console' tag really is important.

How much did you pay for your phone? The fact is apple will make a massive profit on your shiny new iphone, Sony may not even make a profit. Happy to drop £1k if need be tbh if its a real powerhouse.

No point having a £400 console with a minor upgrade, especially compared to the ps4 pro.

You’d only pay £1k?

A true fan would be willing to spend at least £1.5k.

I would pay £2k max if it shipped with an 8tb hdd and had really high specs.

Look I would pay whatever they want at launch as it will be the best console ever made and will likely be the end of MS and Nintendo hardware (fingers crossed) Nintendo will then make games exclusively for Sony along with Sega and MS will come out of the videogames market and stick to Windows.

Why? I get that your a raging fanboy but Sony being the only console maker would be gooseberry fool for absolutely everyone.

Competition is good. Its why we have free games with PS+, its why PSN now lets you change your name, kinda sorta maybe, its why the PS4 didnt cost $1000, its why the PS4 doesnt have a cell processor and is instead x86 based allowing devs to code for it a little it easier and get more out of the hardware. I dont understand your cult like love of Sony but hey, you do you, but wishing they could get away with anything they wanted is just stupid.

It's an interesting question about what are people's top limit price for a console is.
For me it's about £600 but it'd have to be pretty flippin mindblowing with some special extra's like a few years of GamePass and a discount on all games bought via the store or including 2 premium game pads like the Elite controllers.

I think with apple charging over £1k for a mobile phone we will start to see £1k consoles at launch. I don’t just want a minor upgrade compared to the ps4 pro. We might as well wait a few more years if thats the case.

Why are you so fixated with the price of phones they're a completely different product?
Yeah, some people pay stupid money for phones that doesn't mean they'll pay stupid money for everything.

We also have no real idea what the power of the next gen is yet so I'm unsure why you can be so sure it'll only be a minor improvement.

I think £400 is my limit. Anything over that and I will just wait until there is a decent price cut.

Most people also don't pay £1k up front for a new iPhone, it's spread out over the lifetime of the contract. Now if Sony were to do that...

Somewhere around £400 is tops for me I think, and it would have to be special to pay that. I think the PS4 Pro is the most I've spent on a new console and I don't think I've ever paid more than £300.

I'm prepared to pay more for a PC because that gets me much more functionality - I use it for gooseberry fool loads of other stuff, same for a phone (not that I'd pay anywhere near the ridiculous £1k being touted in here).

I haven't had a phone for about a decade.
