Yep, I think the upgrade could be quite significant.
Loading times should be slashed and 4K 60FPS should be the basic standard with room for many extra bells and whistles. It'll be interesting to see what improvements we get for PS4 games being made now which will likely get PS5 remasters.

I think we can rule out Pro versions of next gen consoles at launch but I wonder if we'll see the standard larger storage option with a few games thrown in as bundle options?
An xbox bundle with GamePass seems inevitable so how will Sony respond?

Cores don't really mean much on their own, also the PS4 is already 8 core isn't it?

I do expect a pretty decent bump from this. They've stabilised on a fairly "standard" PC style spec for these machines since this generation which means the focus is purely on pushing the same/similar architecture forward rather than trying to reinvent the wheel or come up with something weird like the Cell.

But these aren't just any cores, they got them all from M&S so you'll be able to taste the difference and as we all know every little helps.

8K graphics is stupid. It's like they panicked and thought people would whine very loudly if they remain 4K only.
It's good that they are sticking with Virtual Reality as it is far from a gimmick (unlike 8K)
How big is the SSD going to be? If they are putting 100GB games on blue rays then it had better be 2GB

8K is pointless.
There's bugger all content for 8K and I seriously doubt people are going to upgrade to an expensive new TV just for a console. 8K may be worthwile by the time of the mid gen refreshes but I think even that's still a bit early.

I doubt 8k will be relevant during it's entire lifetime.

I do like that they are getting the SSD regardless of size. In all honesty it should have been in the PS4 Pro.
It bing a 4k BR player is a good move overall.

They are doing some good things and I hope the Ray tracing lives up to the hype it will get over the next 12 months.

No word on size of SSD but, taking game size into consideration, it will offer the ability to delete data on a more 'granular level'. (e.g.: delete SP portion of game once done with campaign, but keep the MP.)

Personally I'd prefer to see games running at a constant 1080p or 4k and at a rock-solid 60fps rather than having some kinda 8k "dynamic" "chequerboard" effect.

I hope the SSD is a little bigger than that.

Really interested in what they are doing with the Dual Shock 5, sounds like they are adding some really neat features that I bet some devs will find some cool uses for.

Full BC with PS4 games is what will lean me into buying the system closer to launch. If they cannot guarantee full compatibility then I’ll hold off.

It took them years to create the next Playstation model, I really hope that it will be worth the hype.

The controller features and apparent oomph of the console itself has me genuinely excited for what experiences Next Gen will bring.

Is the leaked model released over weekend confirmed? Looks fugly :/

Really excited for this, but a bit disappointed we haven’t got PS3 backwards announced/possible. It’s gutting to not be able to play the MGS series
