Possible first glimpse at PSVR 2 controller tech:

The video accompanies a new research paper titled ‘Evaluation of Machine Learning Techniques for Hand Pose Estimation on Handheld Device with Proximity Sensor’. Crucially, the work is authored by Kazuyuki Arimatsu and Hideki Mori from Sony Interactive Entertainment. That’s the division of Sony specifically responsible for the PlayStation brand, and not the wider corp. Watch the video below – this could well be the basis forSony next-gen PlayStation Move 2 VR controllers.

AMD Ramps Up CPU Production For PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X

Not even the coronavirus will delay the next-gen consoles. :dread:

In the recent earnings call, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su stated that "We expect semi-custom revenue to increase in the second quarter and be heavily weighted towards the second-half of the year, as we ramp production to support the holiday launches of the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles."

AMD's commitment to increase chip production is an encouraging sign as it would imply that Sony and Microsoft should receive sufficient chips for their new devices. Barring any external setbacks, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X should be in shelves by Christmas time.

That fake PS5 reveal trailer doing the rounds is really cool.

I'd buy one of these! Great design!

Looks like that console design has been influenced by the BMW i8.

Jason Schreier saying Sony to have a PS5 event on early/mid June:

That's not to say there may not be another reveal before that

I would be amazed if they didn't follow Microsoft and have a system of free upgrades from PS4 to 5 for as many games as possible.

I'm also quite surprised we haven't seen leaks of the final machine yet they must not have many out in the wild and have some serious legal consequences for anyone letting slip pictures of them.

Rumours of a basic and premium version are about.

The basic pack is priced at €499 (US$540) and the premium setup will allegedly cost €599 (US$648). It’s possible a premium PS5 pack could contain other tempting enhancements for buyers over the basic version, although nothing specific is mentioned beyond the increased SSD storage capacity.

Maybe the Premium also comes with a controller that has the new back button attachment as an add-on or part of the pad?

I can’t see the core components changing because we’ve heard literally nothing about there being 2 PS5 consoles, which leaves things like an increase in SSD size (welcome) and an extra controller. Maybe a year of PS Plus and/or PS Now also included.

Will pass on the premium if all it's offering is an increase in storage; I quite enjoyed managing my content on the base PS4 and will happily do the same with PS5. If anything, the speed of the installs will be faster and so the process that much less of a chore.

Feeling the same but that might make a difference in years to come perhaps? I got a 500gb PS4 and constantly need to delete stuff for downloads which makes me wish I’d got the 1TB. But for a long while the size was fine.

There must be something more to make it premium, not sure just adding the attachment to the controller would justify it

Sony says console and games still on track despite C19.

Nothing official has been said as yet. Going by their track record, I would say it probably will be compatible.
