I'm going to be upgrading to cable FTTP internet soon and wondering if it's worth splashing out on the 900mb connection instead of the 300mb.

If a game were 150gb it means the difference in download time being approx 70 minutes or 24 minutes.
Just not sure if it's going to be worth paying the big difference for the 900mb and futureproof myself against massive game downloads.

I think they said games will be smaller because and install faster because at the moment stuff has to be duplicated so it's on multiple parts of the hdd for speedy access. If this is right then what we have now will be the max size we should see.

Partially off topic, but those looking at the all digital console would do well to note that the new crash bandicoot game pre-order just went up at £59.99 :dread: You're going to be paying a lot for games when trapped in the ps store world, especially if you want games around launch.

Removing the disc drive itself probably only saves Sony between £20-£30, but obviously that price differential looks pathetic on the shelf, so I'm thinking they'll go in there with a £100 price difference between the two models and easily claw it back from the PS Store. There's a lot of great offers and promotions on there, but never at launch. If Activision think they can still pump out games at £60 on the current formats, PS5 may even push £69.99. The return of the N64.

I genuinely don't think it'll fit in the gaps in my TV unit. So, to answer your question: I give a gooseberry fool.

Ok, based on the click&drag render on the other page, it will fit (37.5cm, it said), but it doesn't leave a lot of room for airflow. Largely moot anyway as I hardly play my PS4 and we've got another kid on the way so no chance I'm affording this.

After selling a bunch of CD's and what i'd had saved up from my roundups on Monzo over the last year, i've got £585 sitting in my PS5 fund currently. Really hoping that's going to be enough to get the disc version console, two controllers and 3 or so games at launch. Might top it up to £600 at payday and make that the maximum i'm prepared to put in to it as beyond that it starts to get a bit silly.

Don't forget that you can search for cheaper PSN vouchers online. CD Keys for one.

Also I can wait for the games like Crash Bandicoot 4 to be on sale. Games like Crash Bandicoot doesn't really make me buy them on launch. Plus, every game released after 20th June must have a free upgrade option, or am I mistaken?

No, you're not mistaken and the date is a bit different though.

Splitting hairs (sorry) but this means every PS4 game received for approval by Sony from the 13th July onwards must work on the PS5, that is all. The PS5's backwards compatibility mode may give the games a boost in performance. An upgrade denotes a bespoke version of the software for the PS5 and publishers don't need to create one. If they do its likely that they will offer it for free although Sony doesn't mandate it.

Yeah thanks. Wasn’t sure if I was imagining it or not.

I’ll just avoid Crash 4 until it get really cheap. The remake trilogy has me uttering some extreme swear words and end up deleting from the hard drive. If I had the disc, I’ll probably go full Chalky on it.

This month's Official PlayStation Magazine arrived this morning. In terms of size it's a massive 180 pages. Proper old-school thickness.

Appears to be loads of PS5 stuff in there. Like a new console launch issue. This cover is only limited to subscribers however:

Which VR headset is that on the cover, because it's not PSVR.

It appears to be Sony's new 3D headphones and remote control.

Don’t worry XSX will eventually get exclusives too so it’s all good. We don’t count pc of course...
