So, if I bought the Switch version, I can’t play it on the go, nor without a Nintendo online account? I only really play my Switch away from home without connecting to WiFi, and I don’t plan on having the paid online Nintendo account either

No will still work without having an internet connection assuming it's the same as Doom 3 which I've played at work with no internet connection.

Yeh, they fixed it. At launch you had to be online, now you can play offline.

I didn't know the "play offline" updates had been released for Doom 1 and 2 on Switch? I might have missed them...

Well it works for me! I just played Doom 2 in flight mode to test it. It comes up with a couple of messages asking me to turn flight mode off but you cancel those, then it says 'unable to access online features without a connection to Nintendo online'. Press Okay and I'm in!

So, all 3 titles downloaded yet i can't get to play Doom 1 or 2. Kept asking me for Bnet login (or create one) but i couldn't get past this stage. No joy creating an account.

So, I've got 2 fully paid up games i cant play! And yes, it was connected to home wifi.

Doom 3 has at least let me start a game.

Any ideas guys? Can i get a refund if i still keep getting nowhere on Doom 1 & 2? (& how do I go about that?)

Did you get an error code or a message when trying to create a Bethesda account, KingK? I already had a Bethesda account and the account details were accepted. The account menu is a little odd on the Switch screen, though; I thought I was selecting the "sign in menu" but I was in the "create account" menu.

I don’t believe I have an account so entered by email and then selected the ‘Create Account’ but get ‘Error logging in’.

Also tried the ‘Already have an account’ and tried a possible password but that gets me the same error message.

There is no option to ‘reset password’ or ‘forgotten password’ so I’m screwed. Unbelievable

It's a shame you're having probs, KingK! If you're unsure of your email and password, you could get it reset via the Bethesda website. Or, if you don't really use that account for any other systems / games, you could create a new account on their website.

I bought Doom on PS4.

Why the strawberry float do I have to create a Bethesda account to be able to play it?

Modern gaming is so strawberry floating annoying.

I thought they were going to remove that requirement?

Apparently they will, but I think right now you need to connect online once to make account to log in.

After that I think you can keep playing offline but I've not tried playing them offline yet.

So I actually finished Doom 2016 at last this evening. Honestly the final few levels exposed the formula pretty brutally. It just boiled down to different arena battles, more like Quake than Doom. Can't say it's as good as the reviews suggested, but given I finished it, I certainly wouldn't consider it bad.

I actually stumped up £3.99 for original Doom and was really surprised just how well it stands up. Its amazing that in 2019 an FPS where you can't actually aim manages to still hold up, but if it was some new indie game I think it would still be a sensation.

I finished Knee Deep In the Dead but the next chapter has some really complex maps and I got a bit stuck two or three levels in. That said, if I can finish Doom 1, Doom 2, Doom 3 and Doom 2016 all this year, I'll feel quite accomplished. 8-)

Yeah, I'm a bit picky though. I was a bit let down that Doom 2 didn't feel like it was set on earth. So I want this one to look really different to Doom 2016 and feel like its based on earth.

Basically I want Doom combined with Halo, which is probably the worth thing ever considering Halo wasn't on on earth either!

Also I'm going to confess at this point that I have only ever finished Doom games on "I'm too young to die".

Ah cool! I was waiting for that update before jumping in.

I think I'll go with Doom II, and dead excited to try this as I've never played it.

Embarrassingly, I never knew you couldn't aim in Doom, and just assumed you shouldn't shoot enemies higher or lower than you, unless you got to the same level as them, causing me to rage quit it multiple times.
