Ordered this from Amazon for £9.99 but it won't arrive until the 24th. Only bought it because I had a tenner credit to use during Prime Day so I'm considering cancelling it. Loved the first game but haven't felt the urge to rush out and get this.

Yeah it’s on Gamepass. Would be mental to pay for it on XBox.

First snippet of the non-Mick Gordon soundtrack for the expansion. First impressions are that it sounds like a Mick Gordon tribute act. I mean, obviously. Not a great first "look" though, it's definitely missing...something

Andrew Hulshult is an excellent musician and he's much loved within the Doom community. Really looking forward to hearing what he does for this.

I think I was overly harsh actually as it's definitely growing on me

Any special reason why Mick Gordon hasn't worked on the DLC?

I believe they got someone else in to mix his music for the soundtrack album and they absolutely butchered it, turning everything up to 11 and creating a wall of noise. He wasn't happy and fair play to him for quitting.

The other side is was he'd been given 6 or 7 months by id to rework the dynamic soundtrack he'd produced for the game into linear album tracks. He repeatedly told them he was working on it but when they demanded to see where he was at, a month or so before release (the OST was to be included with deluxe version of the game) he presented 11 tracks (out of 30 required), all bar 2 of which were ambient soundscapes. The soundtrack was not included with the special editions as it wasn't ready, so id brought in the game's audio engineer to master them instead. Rather than then engaging with this fact directly, Gordon took to twitter to bitch so they cut him loose.

I imagine a mix of the two stories is the closest we'll ever get to what really happened.

I always assumed that given how quickly and publicly Gordon threw his toys out of the pram he was probably the one who was more in the wrong in this situation

I didn't know all that. Certainly sounds like neither party was completely without blame but I'm glad the new music sounds just as good.

Only reason I ask is that something fairly similar happened with Killer Instinct, they got someone totally different in to do the third season and Gordon was not impressed, by all accounts.

No.

I would say you are probably somewhere in the middle of the story or thereabouts.

This turned up today so as soon as I finish A Machine For Pigs, I'll be diving right in. Really excited to get stuck in actually.

Is it recommended to search for all the secrets as I go or is it more fun to blast through and come back to the secrets later?

Blast through, you can go back later. Getting stuff is worth it though
