Yeah they're too primitive and aggressive, ego games are the way to go.

It’s much less run and gun, which is fine? I guess. It just doesn’t feel that Doomy. One of the things I liked in 2016 was you could just keep running and shooting and if you were ballsy enough you’d get through. Now I just keep getting spanked unless I memorise what seems like a pretty specific attack pattern.

I think people are misremembering Doom 2016, the start of that was very much the same when you only had limited weapons. Once you have about half your arsenal ammo is much less of a concern.

I do get the frustration in the early levels but once you get the flame thrower-shoot-glory kill- chainsaw cycle down it's an absolute joy to play.

Gauss Cannon was the actual GOAT in Doom, once you got the hang of it and the perk that lets you move and aim you were an unstoppable killing machine.

Same, except for the last bit. I’m putting it down to just being way too tired to concentrate last night. I’ll try again later.

I've played modern Wolfenstein game on PS4. And I got the same feeling as I did for Doom Eternal.

I'm a huge fan of Doom games back in the day, but sadly it looks like I've outgrown this type of game. The aiming seems floaty. The game design doesn't seem inspiring. I said to myself maybe I'm tired of the genre, and I should leave it for years. But I have already done that since I installed Wolfenstein on my PS4 when it first came out. So id Games is pretty done for me. Even I'm bored of the original Doom.

I would love a remaster of The Orange Box for the current gen.

When a man is bored of original Doom, then surely he is bored of life itself.

How many other first person shooters are you playing with map design as good as this? I can't think of anything that comes code to the gameplay and exploration.

However, the strawberry floating Marauder. In a game built around blasting everything until it suits who on earth thought it was a good idea to have an enemy with a very short attack window that requires focusing on that only and renders a few of the weapons unusable as they're not quick enough. Also the extra lives, in theory great but you should be able to choose when you use them.

If you’ve bought this on the Microsoft Store (Xbox or PC), make sure you check out the Rewards app. You can get 6000 points - enough to immediately get a £5 Xbox credit. It even worked for me, having bought the download from CDKeys.

Yeah I was gonna say. I've never played a game that plays anything like this one. To say it doesn't seem inspiring doesn't make much sense.

I'd love to have a fitbit or something similar that I could wear when playing this, I swear my blood pressure and hear rate must be through the roof at times!

Pretty much everything in the game is great but the Slayer Gates are absolutely the highlight, so incredibly intense!

Well it's my opinion. It's a huge pile of disappointment for me.

It is, but you didn't elaborate at all, so it's not an opinion that makes much sense.

Overall the game is fantastic but the final boss....yeah, a weird one.

I feel like just not bothering as to not tarnish my time with the game.

Have to say that the Marauder is the shittest strawberry floating enemy by a county mile. Just not fun to fight at all and so annoying.

Yeah I just fought my first one (I'm assuming more will show up later) and.... ugh. Didn't die to him, but came close a few times (1 hp at one point). I hope there aren't too many of them as, like you said, it's not particularly fun to fight.

I got better at fighting him but the idea of having to concentrate for a specific opening does seem to fly in the face of what the Doom gameplay is about.
