We'll have to wait and see, it will have a female protagonist and launch with campaign and online mp.

I tried this a few months ago and really could not get in to it all (despite loving Doom 2016). It just felt like it was not meant to be played with a controller. And i never say that about FPS games on console. It was a real disapointment for me.

Picked up the first game (2016) for £5 the other day, and it's pretty fun so far. How does the sequel hold up in comparison?

Eternal is better in every way. It's like Doom 2016 with the training wheels removed.

I've just earned £25 through Prolific so I'm probably going to buy Eternal on Steam and try out the DLC finally.

Just tried out the new Ray Tracing mode on PC and it does look strawberry floating excellent. The RockPaperShotgun article summed it up well by saying it's not something you notice more something you feel: everything looks that little bit better and it's hard to really detect why. That why is, of course, the more accurate lighting provided by ray tracing.

The DLSS is harder to judge as the game was already running at over 250fps on Ultra on my 3080. Still, with it set to Quality it's still as smooth as buttered lacquer.

Ditto. Too punishing. Infuriating new enemies. Too much fiddly platforming and obtrusive lore. 2016 way better.

Awesome mate. Not tried the RT on this yet, but will.

Having loved 2016 I’ve struggled to get into eternal too. Felt like it forced the chainsaw and flamethrower on me and I had to use it.

I'd like to give Eternal a go at some point. I've missed it during previous PS Store sales but will keep an eye out. Thing is, I splashed out fifty wraps for Doom 2016 at launch and it seemed to drop in price pretty quickly, so I'm not paying loads for Eternal.

Did this last night - it was £14.99. Quite a few online stores don't have the PS4 version in stock and, if they do, it's a lot more expensive than £14.99.
