The severe lack of ammo is a pain in the arse and the platform sections can strawberry float right off. I end up getting killed more from just trying to conserve ammo than almost anything else and why does the chainsaw use so much fuel?
I'm only playing on normal and the game just feels punishingly hard.
I wasn't expecting a game with a name like Doom to be easy but I can see many people like me getting frustrated and just saying sod this.

Yeah the lower max ammo caps make this tougher than 2016 but it's so much god damn fun I don't really mind. Having to switch things up between glory kills, chainsaw and now flamethrower too depending on what resources you're most low on make the battles extra intense.

Not looking forwards to a Nightmare playthrough mind you...

I'll admit that there have been a couple of occasions that I've not had enough chainsaw fuel to get ammo but in general you should treat it like a reload. Kill 2-3 enemies, chainsaw the next one.

I don't like how the optional enemy encounters are now not there own arena so if you die you go back to a checkpoint. Baffling choice.

Hopefully we’ll hear or see something about the Switch version of this in the next few weeks, can’t wait to play it. Definitely going to give Doom another play on the Switch once we’re nearer the time, not that I imagine it’s necessary to have played it.

Just out of interest..... is the shotgun still in this and just as good? Was my go to weapon in Doom :toot:

It is but I think that is the reason they have the new ammo system as lots of people would just stick with the same gun.

Had a good m go of the multiplayer. What the strawberry float is this?

Well I’ll just use the shotgun till I run out of ammo, was how I managed it in the previous game!

Ammo is much less plentiful than in 2016 and the ammo upgrades aren't as big. Maybe something changes in the late game but from what I've read I don't think so!

Hope glory kills are just as gruesome then, sounds like they’ll be getting used a lot

It would be so bad if glory kills dropped even a tiny bit of ammo.
It feels like even a few missed shots can mean almost crippling ammo depletion.

This. I don’t really see what the problem is with the setup, it really helps to mix up the gameplay. I’m only up to about level 6 but so far every wave of enemy attacks will always have a number of low level grunts who go down with the single recharging bar of the chainsaw and pop open with a spray of ammo - they’re literally ammo crates that run toward you!

Love how they nailed the look of the early 90s text based user interfaces and installers for the Doom I and Doom II easter eggs

Super Gore Nest is one of the best levels I've played in anything.

It does feel like they’ve tried to make it oddly tactical. I could still just be gooseberry fool at it but I certain encounters it does feel like you have to memorise which enemies appear where, then hack em in the right order, timing your chainsaws just right to restock your ammo...

It’s much less run and gun, which is fine? I guess. It just doesn’t feel that Doomy. One of the things I liked in 2016 was you could just keep running and shooting and if you were ballsy enough you’d get through. Now I just keep getting spanked unless I memorise what seems like a pretty specific attack pattern.
