The extra life mode is too easy... I had 43 lives left.

Congrats on beating it on Ultra Nightmare! How many of those extra lives did you use?

Two or three lives I used.

And I chose the easiest difficulty to do the extra life mode by the way. :shifty:

Ahh, I don't blame you. I thought to get the platinum you had to beat the game on UN though? If not...maybe I'll be able to get it myself :datass:

No, you can pick the easiest one and it was breezing through for me. I had to collect 1Up lives just in case but end up I had 43 lives left.

Okay can someone else help me verify this isn't just my console.

I'm playing on PS4 pro and the last patch seems to have introduced some crashes that happen every single time.

For example on the second to last level about 5 minutes into the mission you walk through a pink vent, then jump up into another vent and walk a bit, at this point the game crashes.

It's done it 3 times in a row now.

Strange. When's the last patch?

I never had any crashes on my PS4 Pro apart from the statistics was a bit glitchy for me.

Does it crash if you play through the bit I just mentioned?

I've never had any crashes before today.

I don't recall it unless the patch have released like today or lately.

I haven't touched it since like two or three weeks ago when I got a Platinum trophy.

I tried reinstalling it even without the latest patches and it still crashes.

I feel like they didn't test the new game plus stuff at all.

Really disappointing.

Worse is that if you don't connect online you get a massive annoying notification that pops up 3 times in a row every few minutes.

This is definitely not a very future proof game.

This is why I don't bother with console gaming, all the random crashes.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I've checked it and the latest patch is v1.01. They haven't updated anything since the release date.

I am definitely sure that I didn't experience any crashes during my two play-through. I did the extra life mode when I finished with my campaign and never had any problems with with. I played on my PS4 Pro by the way.

The new patch (v1.03) is up now for PS4.

Hopefully it will fixes some crashes that you've experienced lately.

If you own this game on PC, strongly consider uninstalling it

They've relented and are removing it in the next patch.

My buddy Colin has done a drum cover of one of the Doom OST tracks.
He is a drumming beast.

I thought one of the big focuses of the combat system in this was supposed to be the movement and how you can constantly just move around fast whilst fighting.
And yet the AI seems to be programmed to get as many enemies in as close as possible whenever they're around. Even the ranged enemies will just constantly come right in your face, making movement in any direction almost impossible at times. I don't remember having any problems of being completely penned in like this in the 2016 game.

Blast them out of the way? Jump over them? Chainsaw through them? Swing off the environment toward a new target? Hookshot somewhere else?

You really shouldn't be stationary long enough to gather that much attention in one place

That's just it, I am moving constantly, but they just pile in from all directions to try and limit movement as much as possible.
I'm sure I don't recall health going down so quickly in the previous game either, and I'm only playing on Normal difficulty. I'd hate to think what the more difficult modes are like.

I've never had that particular problem.

The health thing is true though, and is supposed to encourage you to both stay mobile and use all the different techniques (glory kill, flame belch, chainsaw, blood punch, grenade). It's definitely a tougher game than DOOM 2016

Finished the game, some of those late game bosses can absolutely strawberry float right off.

The Khan Maykr was an utter nightmare. Constantly flying around, and only vulnerable if you take down its shields first then hookshot up to punch it. Problem is that half the time the hookshot propels you up and over the boss so your punch doesn't actually register, and by the time the hook has recharged the shields are back up. Oh, and the shields regenerate if you stop shooting them for about 10 seconds to replenish health/ammo. Speaking of, the only enemies you get to do that are, rather than the usual fodder enemies in other boss battles, much tougher late game enemies that take a lot more to take down and only drop ammo if you kill them with a headshot since you need 3 chainsaw fuel to chainsaw them, and the chainsaw only regenerates to 1 fuel. And as if that wasn't bad enough, once you damage the boss enough it just randomly starts making two thirds of the area damage you constantly upon contact.
The whole boss felt like it was balanced purely for people wanting to play on harder difficulties and no thought was put into rebalancing it for the lower difficulty levels.

The next (And final) boss is better....the first time around. Problem is that after you do it once by taking out the 8 body parts you have to literally do the exact same thing again, just in a different arena, as a second stage. It's literally the same thing, take out the 8 body parts whilst being assaulted by a bunch of the various enemies from throughout the game.

Overall I'd say the game was "Ok". The previous one felt far better to actually play though.
