I love the Dreamcast and I love all your stuff there Ad, but do you just have all your stuff lined up on the floor normally or was this for a special photo session or something?

Probably the coolest thing I've ever owed. I loved my Dreamcast, it was the first time I had ever been online too.

Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Power Stone 1 and 2, Plasma Sword, Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, House of the Dead 2, Shenmue. Phantasy Star Online, Soul Calibre .A fantastic collection of games and a very unique feel to the console and it's games.

Playing House of the Dead 2 was amazing, felt like I owed an arcade machine. Then Shenmue came along and it truly felt like the next stage in gaming.

Crazy taxi has one of the best opening few minutes to a game ever, music kicks in, grab a customer and we're off.

This was when we were in the middle of decorating and that room was empty, so I took stock off all my game stuff, photographed it and catalogued it for selling. I had no idea what I really had.

Got my Dreamcast at launch (skipped college to spend all day playing Sega Rally 2) and utterly adored it.

Compulsory list of personal favourites:

Soul Calibur
Powerstone
Shenmue (1+2)
Crazy Taxi
Metropolis Street Racer
Ready 2 Rumble
Chu Chu Rocket
Jet Set Radio
THPS (looked so bloody crisp compared to the PS1 version).
Hydro Thunder

Honourable mentions: Sonic Adventure, Sega Rally 2, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, DOA2.

It was a good console, but it was always in the unlaunched PS2's shadow, which is what killed it as it lacked good 3rd party support. Sony had tapped up various developers which is why there was a lack of mainstream 3rd party titles like FIFA which put the nails in the coffin at an early stage.

I was mercilessly mocked by the Edge lot for buying one. People laughed & sneered about how much the very few owners were enjoying it and how 'little' they had to play on it, so owning one at the time had the life sucked out of it as most people didn't give a gooseberry fool. The DC only became fashionable after it's death as people realised it was a decent machine with a small but impressive collection of games.

Soul Calibur stands out as one of the machines best titles, but no one really cared at the time

I genuinely would not have bought all the consoles I did in that generation if the Dreamcast had survived. Definitely not Xbox, a PS2 maybe much later than I did. Maybe a Gamecube but I mainly bought that for the Sega games so I may have got it towards the end of the generation. I wish Sega still made the sorts of games they did back then, but under Sammy it feels like they've floundered a bit

Yeah, I guess they've done what they needed to stay afloat and have diversified pretty well but I definitely miss the Sega of old.
