I really should play my Dreamcast more often, although I'll need to buy some more games. I'd like to get some import games such as Typing of the Dead and Cosmic Smash so I'll need to get one of those discs that lets you play them. Are there any other good games worth picking up that weren't released here?

Loads, I could show you a load of stuff to be honest. A lot of 2D stuff came out that never got released outside Japan and a few US releases like Alien Front and Marine Fishing.


Good luck finding Cosmic Smash though, its rare and you'll have to pay though the nose to get it.

It does look good but £60? I don't think I'd really want to pay that much for one game, even if it is rare. However if I, hypothetically, had money to burn and I did buy it then what would I need to run it. I don't have a Japanese console but isn't there something that can be used to get around that?

There was a multi region loader called DCX.

Why don't you just download it? It's not as if Sega are going to be losing out on sales, if you Ebay it. If it pangs your conscience, buy Sonic Unleashed as penance.

For 40 ******* quid I expect more than a 10-minute single player mode.

There is a truth in here, but at the same time how many 10-15 hour action games have you brought for £40, then traded in again just after you finished it, and how many times have you spent £40 on a game that might last 15 minutes initially, but you always come back for more because the thing remains fun to just replay?

The closest game to this type in the modern age is probably SEGAs own ghost squad on the Wii: Yeah you can blast through in 20 minutes, but not replaying it over and over for the variable routes, difficulty and weapons would be a sin.

I'm jealous you've got an unopened DC. Still, I do have a second, unopened (as in 'factory sealed') Gamecube, which I bought recently for £40. It's a white one, with Mario Football packaged inside the box. I'll just hold on to that baby for another ten years and then maybe flog it to help fund my increasingly desperate old age...

People like you make me sick. Consoles are made to be enjoyed, not hoarded away. Someone else could have had that console, and actually used it, and brought a little sunshine into their life. But no, you bought it, and decided to never let it leave its box.

I would download it but I can never get torrents to work properly. If I were able to then I'd definitely do it along with other rarities.

All the Dreamcast love flying around this place has got me wanting one badly. You guys make it sound like the Jesus Christ of consoles.

The Dreamcast is the only one of the ones mentioned that doesn't feel totally out of date though. You don't have to be a retro-junkie to be able to appreciate it's games.

I just paid silly money for a pristine used PAL copy of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike but it's worth it. Great fun.

My collection of Dreamcast titles is expanding nicely again, thankfully, most of the games have been dirt cheap which is a bonus. I currently now have (or have on the way in a couple of cases):

How much did you pay for your VGA cable in the end?

I had a look about on the internet and came across a site which offered non-torrent downloads for loads of DC games. I ended up downloading Cosmic Smash and Marvel vs. Capcom, burnt them to separate discs and they're playable, which is great.

Cosmic Smash is good but it really isn't worth the £60 people are asking for on eBay! As for Marvel vs. Capcom I'm finding it really hard on the easiest difficulty. I downloaded the sequel, too, but I haven't burnt it to disc yet. I'll see if I can make any more progress in the original first.

I've been downloading a few more games so I'll probably end up burning all of them and have an increase of games to play!
