Don't see the appeal at all. Why would you want to play someone's crappy interpretation of Mario 64?

Technically it's impressive someone created that. However, it does give me vibes of those 2D Mario rip off games you can get on the app store.

This is pretty neat, an auto-solving Rubik's Cube:

And here's a pretty good looking SSX clone:

Not published yet but this is what it looked like only two months ago so it's progressing rapidly.

I have heard about that SSX one, look forward to trying it out when it is published.

Im still finding a wealth of games to play on this, and i think probably more than 75% of them are at least somewhat enjoyable and "not broken". I have also started dipping back in to some of the ones i played a little while back. Random Roads is particularly good for this.

I have worked through quite a few tutorials now, but i don't think i am ever going to have the patience or creativity to make things. It saddens me, as i'm sure i have a simple addictive game knocking around in my brain, but i know i will never grasp the tools well enough to manage it. I truly am envious of what the more creative types have managed to put out there.

The tutorials are good, but i find them a bit like those awful case study things you do at work, where, in a controlled environment it all seems so simple, but when you have to start factoring in real world noise etc it becomes far more difficult and you feel like you are very much on your own!

But, as i have said before, for me this "game" is 100% worth it for Dream Surfing alone. Its pretty much worth it for that "Silent Hills" game, that seemed to get Lynch better than even Swery does.

Picked it up the other day, and it's very impressive stuff. I haven't created anything yet but I have done a few tutorials.

They did a great job with the loading times in this, it wouldn't work nearly as well if it had even slightly long loading times.

The Quest for Cheese treads the perfect line of making you uncertain whether you are playing a misguided fan project or a rather clever car crash of a game. I'm 99% certain its the later. I liken it to the way somebody has to play an instrument well to be able to make it sound comically bad rather than just "un-listenable".
Anyway i think its worth checking out. Mario was a particular highlight for me.

Edge 10 for this in this month's issue. Thought it was worth mentioning.

I may have been a bit overly dismissive of this. Having seen some more of what people are producing I’m pretty amazed at how far things are coming along. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of it is still very throwaway and just unpleasant to play but there’s the seeds of some really impressive stuff. If it continues on this trajectory, especially with current world event, we could get some really nice stuff by the end of the year.

I still think it’s way over scored though.

I've been sitting on this for too long. It's well past time to release my collection of good and worthwhile things I've found in Dreams.

https://indreams.me/collection/csbFcWwbrGX

It's organized into a few different categories (Gamey Games, Other Games, Experiences, Showcases) and includes the best things I've come across so far in Dreams. I'll keep adding to this collection as I find more good stuff.

That is super-impressive; so crisp and effective.

I'm still playing this and still really enjoying it. I dont create, it would feed my obsessiveness too much, but i have had 70+ hours of enjoyment from it already according to my profile (im not convinced its that much tbh). I dont see myself stopping anytime soon. Its like Super Mario Maker 2 but for all games (and the wild variation in quality that comes with it). The curation is largely excellent though, and Media Molecule do a good job of promoting the more left field stuff, which, when combined by most played filters etc, usually gets you a nice broad selection of the gaming universe.

I played a walking simulator in it the other night, and it was one of the most impressive games of that type i have played in terms of the very subtle visual indicators that steered you on your path.

For anyone who is in the least bit interested, and doesn't mind playing stuff lacking polish but thats full of heart, give it a go.

Somebody has been inspired to recreate the Unreal Engine 5 demo in Dreams.

Thanks for this - I just got Dreams yesterday and finding it tricky to find anything worthwhile. Lots of impressive stuff but not quite doing it for me.

Just doing a few of the tutorials now.

EDIT: Was surprised that during a tutorial, the narrator referred to the cube-like character you're rescuing as 'He's such a spanner'

From my youth, that was a term used when calling someone a spastic was stopped for being incredibly offensive.

From checking urban dictionary, that might be just a UK thing.

Kind of missing the point are you not, somebody has went to a lot of effort to create that using the tools provided and it looks anything but 'crappy'.

Who is the narrator? Stephen Fry was awesome.

Ray Panthaki, a Bafta award winning actor, but I'm not really familiar with him/his work. His voice is fine for it (better than the kind of patronising female narrator), but he's no Stephen Fry - who I think would have picked up on the use of the word 'spanner' in that context.

Where did you get that date from? Pretty sure it's the 22nd.
