Most will be playing on PS4 I reckon but the Xbone version isn't much different bar the slighty worse resolution.

It also runs worse, but it has better texture filtering.

Worse as in how? What does texture filtering mean?

Some significant frame rate drops here and there unique to the XB1 version and lots of tearing.

Computer rendering is done in a way that's kind of backwards to what you'd expect. Rather than take a scene and capture a "picture" of it, it takes every pixel of your display and works out what colour it's supposed to be. If you have a textured surface at an oblique angle, there's going to be two different colours within the pixel, so the renderer has to decide what colour it shows. With no filtering, you get aliasing, and with bi- or tri-linear filtering, you get blurriness, as it just averages the colour. Anisotropic filtering uses a smarter method for preserving the texture so that it still "looks right" into the distance.

Basically, this is the difference for Dying Light:

That's why the xbox version looks better? More detailed? Less blurry?

Yeah, they're using the same texture, but the Xbox version is filtering it better. With the performance and resolution gap, though, there's plenty of headroom in the PS4 version to employ AF, but it's absent from this and a couple of other games.

Tbh that wouldn't really bother me, frame rate drops would. But I'm not spending strawberry floating £55 on a digital game :x

I'll bet someone 55 foils that Glowy will own this game in under 7 days from this post.

It really is a shame the forum was down when it was. You all could have got it for $20 on PS4.

Ah, ONE DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY.

Have they actually given a reason why that version has been delayed by a month?

27th February. Someone managed to blag one from an indie though. The rumour I saw was that there was a problem with zombies wearing hijabs so they recalled all the copies. Hence the physical delay and the delay in sending out digital copies to reviewers. Some retailers apparently haven't sent them back so if all this is true and you manage to get a hijab copy it may be worth something.

Techland have directed all such queries to Warner Bros, the publisher, and they don't appear to be pleased about it. I'm not surprised - after the development delay and then the build-up to launch, for the discs not to be ready is a huge mistake in terms of achieving sales.

For folk keen to get the disc copy, Amazon are doing a version that includes the season pass for under £45. Click here to take a chunk out of Maf's birthday cake.

...looks good, Minto! It was cool when you were standing on a ledge looking at the zombies... and they climbed up to attack!

CONFIRMED: I could not play this... I'd be bricking it .

It's terrifying at night but with a mate online it's rather brilliant, I was hosting so I seen no lag at all neither did my mate, happily suprised that it runs so well online from the off.

Afraid not, dude.

All that red at the bottom marks torn frames on the Xbox One version. It's not going to be difficult to notice, for any species.

Erm... I just watched that entire video and it's the same framerate for like 95% of it or have I missed something?

You just probably just can't see it with those microsoft tinted glasses on.

This game is hella fun. The zombies actually get harder to kill as you get to a higher level which really keeps you on your toes. The best upgrades are the head stomp finish and the drop smash attack. Really handy for taking out large hordes from the rooftops.

Some funny moments as well like hitting the hazmat zombie with the sword and his oxygen tank explodes and takes out a gooseberry fool load of other zombies.

So far.... So awesome.

Starting to really get into the swing now. Found 2 guns. Freed all safe houses and currently going back to questing.

I'm scavenging a lot and it really does make you feel like you're in a world where you need to take all you can.

Just upgraded some weapons to do further impact damage. Killing the big guys without too much trouble and never getting hired of traps or setting people on fire. Humans are harder but burn so they don't really cause much trouble.

Highly recommend this to anyone who wants something a bit different.

Wish my image sig would work
