Probably not the huge release people may have wanted but it's actually super neat we're finally getting a proper rerelease of arcade DK. Closest we've had was the port on Donkey Kong 64 (first one I played!) which is a solid approximation if not arcade perfect, otherwise they've only ever done the NES version.

Also they've got a NOA employee who's been there since 1981, he was talking about the story of naming Mario!

Nintendo come across as unable to see past the appeal of Pokémon and Smash.

When you look past those however, their overall lineup doesn't seem as bad as people are making out - Starlink, Octopath, Daemon X Machina are a few notable exclusives that should be pointed out and third-party support is undoubtedly stronger than last year.

I'm disappointed too but I cant say their line-up for the rest of the year is objectively bad.

And speaking of Starlink, it's currently on the Treehouse. It looks as great as I expected it to.

Starlink I believe is not exclusive, just having Star Fox characters is.

Nope, on PS4 and Xbox one too.

This has really been a poor E3 for Nintendo; Smash Overkill on the Treehouse at least Killer Queen Black is up next.

Also during them setting up between segments when the Splatoon Main Theme comes on I've convinced myself the voice says 'Giff Gaff' can't unhear it now

I was always hearing 'Giff Gaff' with that theme.
Anyway, Treehouse is done. It was okay for the most part, but I still can't get over how much Smash featured. I know it's the big game for the year, but there's only so much time you can focus on a single point of a game without it become grating to see more. Everything else was perfectly fine, though, and I'm glad we got to see more of Super Mario Party.

Yeah it's not that what they showed was in any way "bad" it's just that beyond Smash, what they showed had little depth or excitement about it and Smash is too much of an incremental update to really go into that much detail with. Especially in a setting as broad as E3.

I can't help but feel that they should have held back one of their exclusives from last year to help give 2018 a more rounded line-up. Splatoon 2 is the obvious choice as they could have created something that was far more like a "sequel" rather than an updated version of the first one. ARMS wouldn't have made as much sense as then they would have had two fighting games.

It’s sold 6m copies and they’re about to make a load more money off it from the Octo Expansion. It’s also been the biggest driver of Switch sales in Japan. Holding it back would have been an awful business decision.

It is also a full sequel. It has a new single player campaign, two new modes, loads of new maps and weapons, better graphics, better balancing thanks to the revamping of the specials. For a sequel to a new hit IP, it’s done exactly what it should have done, and done it very well.

Also, this time last year they would have been expecting Yoshi and Fire Emblem to release in 2018. They wouldn’t have thought they needed anything else.

Yes, but the changed the weapon in Rainmaker (?) So, the game is gooseberry fool.

I jest, but I do prefer the old blaster from rain maker.

I would also speculate that Pokemon Let's Go was meant to be a full E3 reveal but got leaked. If that had shown at the same time it would have seemed much better.

I've been really critical of Nintendo in the past, but still think this was an average E3 rather than a poor one. I think across the board it's been a little underwhelming for reveals.

I don’t think so. It never gets revealed at e3, The Pokemon Company always do their own thing.
