I think it could be something like Ace Combat 7 as we haven't had an update on that in a while and it's late.

Wasn't this supposed to be a spring 2018 release?

Need to play this in VR NOW!

It was supposed to be out last year but has been getting delayed. I'm also really looking forward to seeing if I can pull off some sweet manoeuvres in a Eurofighter followed by the inevitable crash into a mountain in VR.

Nintendo have just announced their E3 Direct and Treehouse so I'm going to make a prediction now they've confirmed there will be no more announcements for 3DS:

A new 2D Zelda or Mario will be unveiled for Switch.

That's been doing the rounds for awhile. Straight off, there are a few mistakes on it:

> FIFA19 down as FIFA2019
> Intelligent SystemS down as Intelligent System
> Incorrect grammar on Pokémon name

Also, Yoshi's Flipping Island

That's all old news and pretty much by the wayside. I have some real news though.

The Treehouse is changing format, with Jeremy Clarkson making the journey to Los Angeles to be the host of all three days. There he will announce the team coming up for the current segment of the stream, entertaining the crowd between segments. Popular Youtubers are also in on the fun, with Hat Films joining the Treehouse team for the new Mario Kart showcase. It has obstacles that can knock you out of the race for good, but the game is going full out with the Nintendo crossover idea with an Arwing item replacing the blue shell that fires lasers onto all racers it passes as it travels to first place, where it launches a bomb on the leading racer.

The source of all that is a dream I had last night. Am I drowning in the E3 hype yet?

Still think there may be a New Super Mario Bros for Switch announced at E3.

Part of me wants a new company (maybe Samsung or Panasonic) to enter the console business.
It would be interesting to see a company what direction a completely clean sheet of paper to start with goes. Would they go the Switch route or a high or low powered console or could they go with something completely new.

I'd much prefer a Mario Maker sequel.

I'm quite happy with the status quo, all 3 barring a few slips here and there have continuously driven gaming forward with innovations such as Nintendo's new control methods, Microsoft's focus on online and Sony bringing in Hollywood talent and story writers.

I'm not sure what Samsung or Panasonic could bring to the table.

Apple and Google are already platform holders thanks to iOS/MacOS and Android respectively.

Apple has a huge base of dedicated fans, and Google could do some really cool stuff with AI.

Some of you guys may know this already but, back in the mid '80s, lots of - mainly Japanese - companies created a unfied computer / gaming platform called MSX. The MSX operating system, created by Microsoft, was a shared format for which companies could then create their own computers that supported it. It was a lovely idea as games could then be created and run on multiple systems.

It was fairly popular in Japan and parts of Europe but it never really caught on against the likes of the existing Commodore 64 and then the Commodore Amiga, Atari ST and the rise of the PC. Only a small number of MSX systems made it to the UK, the most popular machine of which was the Toshiba HX10:

It could be cool to see a "standard" console format for which companies could build their own machines around it.

3DO23?

Yay, no platform competition :)

There was a reason all those 3DO machines cost like £600.

What Iv'e been saying to myself regarding the next 2D Mario is that it could incorporate Mario's 3D moveset on a 2D plain. I would much prefer a Mario Maker sequel though.
