Same.

After being a big Xbox fan through the original and the 360, they lost me when they released the One. But I really like Phil Spencer, and while he talks the talk, it’ll be the release of the next console where we should really see what impact he’s had. They’ve made some good strides under him but the next generation will be the real test.

Snap, Tom. The Xbox was my number-one format during those generations. This gen I moved back to PlayStation and, whilst I hugely enjoy using the PS4, I want MS to put up a really tough competitive challenge to Sony. Strong competition can result in innovation and better services.

I really wasn't excited about E3 this year but, in past days, I've felt enthusiasm slinking in. Thinking of the Xbox and Nintendo presentations, my hype level is rising. I just declined a social invitation on Sunday because I want to watch the Xbox show live. E3, woo-woo! :toot: .

It feels odd that Sony aren't going to be there, though; perhaps even as if they've made a mistake in choosing not too. Winning hearts and minds is important and they've given MS and Nintendo a clearer field to do so.

Sony have taken a gamble, It's all about how MS capitalize, if they do, then they'll dominate the news cycle for next few weeks. If not then Sony have made the right decision.

It won’t be the best e3 - sony already achieved that with shenmue 3, the last guardian and ff7 remake in one conference, but i do think microsoft will announce the xbox two, plus some nice exclusives for their current and next generation systems. We may even see a smaller xbox one x console at a cheaper price point.

I do think we will see a true banjo kazooie remake and a few new ips.

I feel this is microsofts opportunity to take the initiative with the next generation, however it will likely be another dreamcast/ ps2 situation where people will wait for sonys next generation console unless microsoft release their console much earlier, with a good pricepoint and a big exclusive like grand theft auto.

Launch time is never that important, 360 launched before PS3 and was pretty successful.

I wildly overestimated the Xbox conference.

If that's how bad the rest of E3 is going to be then (Nintendo aside) I'm out

Sony

Nintendo

Outside of Mario & Zelda don't really follow their latest news.

So how did you get on with your predictions? I did ok.

Mixed bag for my predictions with the correct calls being the obvious stuff.

Tomous wrote:What I'm expecting from Nintendo:

Focus of the Direct to be Pokémon Sword/Shield and Animal Crossing reveal and blowout. I'm also expecting a heavy emphasis on Mario Maker 2 during E3 but think it's likely it'll just be a trailer in the Direct with lots of hands on stuff at Treehouse instead.

Also, expecting new trailers and release dates/windows (if not already confirmed) for Link's Awakening, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Luigi's Mansion 3, Astral Chain and Daemon X Machina. Think all those will be playable in Treehouse too, so there will be plenty of hands on stuff. I also think LM3 is going to have a big online multiplayer mode which will get a mixed reception.

I predict it every year but I think we'll finally see Retro's new project unveiled and this will be their big announcement for this E3. I don't think it'll be a new IP but I think it will be a surprise to everyone. Outside chance of one of Monolith's new projects too but it's probably too soon.

I think we'll get some DLC info-something confirmed for Yoshi and Smash DLC characters 2 and 3 revealed, with 2 getting shadow dropped after the Direct. Nothing on Super Mario Party though.

I also think we're going to get another surprise third party use of a Nintendo IP. I'm certain Mario x Rabbids 2 is coming but I don't think we'll see that until next year's E3.

Finally I think we'll get another Wii U port revealed for later in the year, Pikmin 3, much to the annoyance of all of us waiting for Pikmin 4.

Sony are gonna be a bit more low key with a potential stream. I don't really see them going all out, they have their own roadmap to follow.

Nintendo will be Nintendo in the most Nintendo way possible. Treehouse live will be dope as usual.

Square Enix might steal the show, depending on how much they decide to go in with FFVIIR and if they potentially announce a new FF for next gen.

Ubi is almost certainly doing another Nintendo Collab. Something with F-Zero.

At least I was near the mark with Square >,> (Treehouse was dope as usual)

I honestly think Ubisofts conference was a massive let down. It just wasn't as fun or silly for me, even Just Dance was not as entertaining.

Just Dance felt very out of place in the middle of Tom Clancy presentation.
