Yes.

Interesting. Might keep a slightly closer eye on the third then.

The second game has complete campaign co-op, first game only has two campaign levels in the competitive multiplayer section.

The third game has complete campaign co-op and no competitive multiplayer, and it's got a mother flipping man cannon, so you can tell it's going to be good.

And y'know, the full campaign co-op is enough of a reason for it to not be a poor man's anything.

I quite liked the Black Ops pad for the PS3 from last year but the need for a dongle and only average L1 & R1 buttons would stop me recommending it over the Dual Shock 3 despite the triggers being fantastic and the combat button gimmickry actually being useful. Sadly they haven't addressed the need for a dongle with this update and the shoulder buttons look unchanged.
But at least you can change the backlighting on the sticks. :|

The lack of a western release for The Last Story was annoying. Perhaps Nintendo are waiting for next Easter.

We're getting it in Europe along with Xenoblade. NOA are the ones sucking up the place.

We're getting them but not America? that's unprecedented (afaik)

It's not. Happened plenty of times this gen. Another Code: R, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Last Window: Secret of Cape West, to name but three. No sign of Solatorobo coming to America, either.
